Well shit, didn't make the cut for the initial Steam Frame batch, and knowing how much worse the AI memory/storage bullshit is getting, I don't have hopes for getting one till 2027 or later at this rate. Staying in the queue just in case, but all expectations are gone at this point.

My favorite bit of Bad Rats info is my friend who had the wacky idea to fruitlessly try to corner the market on the Bad Rats "Tractor Rat" steam trading card, and amassed a collection of over 1500 of them through trading with random folks and occasionally buying them for like $0.03 on the market

Seeing the images in this thread, and this application of DLSS5 to Skyrim, it does seem to be mostly just a yassify face filter. Most glaringly, it does basically nothing to the image when enabled for the Argonian or Khajiit since it can't detect them as faces. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJeq...

Celebrating the 4th this year by deploying a few 1.5kt tactical nukes on a tank factory in the game Nuclear Option. Very absurd game with the premise: What if we just said "fuck it, we ball" when it comes to nuclear weapons in a modern military setting.

I think Valve really was targeting around the $700 base price when they announced the Steam Machine last year. Given how SSD and Memory prices have risen that looks to be about a $150 rise in SSD and ~$200 rise in RAM prices. (note the memory graph shows 2x16GB so i'm halving that.)

A chart showing the price of 512gb m.2 NVME SSD drives over the last 18 months. It shows that prices were stable and low at around $50-60 until rising sharply at the end of 2025 reaching a current price around $210

Was wondering how they'd manage memory availability. Looks like some models are going with 2x8GB sticks and some will have 1x16GB depending on what they could get their hands on. Since it's kinda luck of the draw what each machine has, hopefully that won't impact performance much in games.

Yeah this is critical and so annoying to see trailers STILL get wrong with shaky first person VR footage. I'd much rather view a 3rd person view of the character model or mixed reality view of the human playing than see un-stabilized first person VR footage in a trailer.

I don't know if we're ever going to see the Steam Machine or Frame at this point. The price is probably going to make them DoA if they do release any time in the next year or two. Really unfortunate timing for Valve that the entire home PC market is vanishing.
