Not all of it was good, still, but I do think performances were a lot less standardized and interchangeable. I do think there are still good modern dub actors, but performances are a lot more samey now than they used to be. 031

They're doing an "anime voice," whereas old dub actors were often local theater actors who were more versatile at acting, with a wider repertoire of voices and no preconceived idea of what "anime" sounded like. 141
