Local resistance. That’s what will stop the cycle of reckless development in Virginia. I didn’t win my election, but there’s still a fight to be had. I’m in it with you, and for you.

An industry that fails to provide basic answers to basic questions has no business expanding data center business in Virginia. It’s time to hold Big Tech accountable.

I was 8 years during Columbine. I was also a 12 minute drive away. This was before lockdowns. Before active shooter drills. Nobody knew what to do yet. All I remember is police everywhere. I’m proud to be a gun sense candidate. There have to be limits. And some limits can't be up for negotiation.

You don't have to be part of a vulnerable community to fight with them. The one group I should have mentioned but didn’t, is people with disabilities. They know what it’s like to be ignored, overlooked, and discriminated against too. I refuse to be a rep who forgets about anyone. Dignity for all.

Some thoughts on the significance of this holiday.
A picture with a logo for Tim Cywinski for Congress and a description of why Tim believe Juneteenth is significant. It reads: REMEMBERING THE PROMISE OF JUNETEENTH
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free. It was two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
It took another 156 years for it to become a federal holiday.
We are still waiting to see if this nation can deliver the equality promised on Juneteenth. And the progress gained, often paid for in blood, is under threat now.
Nobody's rights should wait on someone else's timing. And it's up to all of us to turn what was promised into what's real.
We celebrate this day to mark how far we've come. We remember its significance to remind us how far we have left to go.

The stakes of this moment couldn’t be higher. We must become the party that fights for people. That’s fight for dignity for all. That’s the kind of party I want to be, and that’s what I’ll fight for in Congress.

Bipartisan collaboration is great. Coordinating and unity within our party is even better. But you have to start with a vision. Mine is dignity for all. No exceptions. I’ll fight like hell to get there — and yes, that includes going against my own party if I have to.

When fiscal policy in the United States values corporate greed more than hard work, the result is more income inequality and a social security system running dry. It’s time to flip the script. I appreciate the King William Dems for inviting me. I’ll see you again soon.

I didn’t run for office to play it safe or hide my beliefs. We don’t have to appear moderate to flip this seat. We have to be unafraid to listen, evens if to those we disagree with, and find common ground. That’s what representation looks like, and it’s something Wittman will never understand.

You won't get typical talking points from me. Leaders should know issues enough so so we can answer any question. You might not always agree, but I’m not running for office so I could hide my beliefs. What you see is what you get. That's the standard we should come to expect from our politicians.

I know people are concerned about Trump and impending election interference — I share them. Democracy and dignity are on the line in this election, and so is ability to hold elections in the first place. We need to be ready. Not just as a party, but as a people.

There’s nothing in this speech that ppl in the 1st district don’t already know. Wittman, Trump, and MAGA politicians aren’t interested in solutions for everyday people. They’re only interested in engaging in the politics of division and scapegoating. All the while ignoring us. That ends in 2026.

I call myself a Reformist Democrat. That means no corporate cash, no party-over-people politics, and no pretending the system works for people when it doesn’t. We all pay into this system. We all contribute. We all deserve real representation. Reform is how we get something better.

The damage Data Centers inflict on our neighborhoods and our electric bills is a reflection of how Government allows Big Tech and Big Industry to mistreat everyday people. And we’re told we’re not rich enough to stop them — that’s a lie. That was my message at Data Center Lobby Day this week.

Statement on the new maps, which I support. Let’s be clear, there’s no guarantee the amendment will pass, the GOP will spends millions fighting our effort to balance the scales. I’m running to restore representation to the ppl of the 1st. If that hurts my chances at winning a primary so be it.
Tim Cywinski Statement on
Proposed Redistricting
Amendment
Like all 2026 candidates running for Congress in Virginia, l've received a lot of questions about the proposed congressional maps tied to the redistricting amendment. Here are my official thoughts:70% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.
• 51% of Virginia households are going into debt just to afford groceries.
• Virginians are paying 13% more for electricity over the last two years, driven by unchecked data center expansion that sacrifices our neighborhoods for Big Tech profits while families pick up the tab.
• 350,000 Virginians are at risk of losing their healthcare — and even with insurance, medical debt remains the leading cause of bankruptcy.I will continue running in Virginia's current 1st Congressional District because Rob Wittman has failed to deliver real results for real people. He's too busy kissing up to MAGA leadership, holding lavish fundraisers during government shutdowns, and refusing to hold town halls with the people he is supposed to serve. I will expose that record because accountability matters. And I will continue to fight for A New Way Forward because the future isn't something we're given — it's something we build, and building it better matters. The new maps represent a new challenge to candidates like me — candidates who refuse corporate money, who are not wealthy or well-connected, and who believe support should be earned, not bought or anointed. But I support the redistricting amendment because our democracy is on the line - and choosing comfort over responsibility is how systems fail, not how they're fixed.
Running for office is not easy. It requires a leap of faith. My faith is in people. And every person deserves representation, even if they can't afford a lobbyist.
Maps may change — my commitment to fight for a future built by all of us won't.
(Statement concludes).

A VCU student asked me what happens when party pressure and lobbyists show up. It’s a fair question. Here’s my answer: Ideals are compromised only if you’re afraid to use power when you have it. I’m not.

ICE has been used a tool for cruelty and violence against innocent people. If one entity can do so much harm in such a short amount of time, it needs to go.

Yesterday, I spoke at the Stop The Data Center Takeover Rally for my Job at the Virginia Sierra Club — the only way to stop Big Tech from destroying our neighborhoods is through local community resistance. As a Congressman, I will end Big Tech’s exploitation of Va and everywhere else.

We deserve leaders who are unafraid to speak out when injustice strikes. ICE murdered someone last week and they terrorize our neighborhoods and people of color daily. Proud to stand alongside @salaambhattiva.bsky.social & Elizabeth Dempsey Beggs at the ICE out of VA rally.

The Supreme Court supercharged Big Money in elections with Citizens United — it’s time to balance the scales. My public voucher plan levels the playing field by giving voters $500 every quarter to donate to candidates of their choice. It gives our tax money back to us, and strengthens are democracy

Today’s disAbility Visibility panel. I can’t thank you enough. There are many challenges we discussed today — changing policy and perspectives was among them. That’s won’t be easy, but - like so many of our obstacles - it’s possible to overcome. And we will. I promise to fight with you to do so.
Group of panelist posing for a picture at the Disability VisAbility event in Chesterfield on December 6, 2025. Panelist discussed challenges the disabled community face from a wide range of perspectives. Three panelist offered insight on what it was like living with disabilities and the need for more support in education, societal structures, and public policy. Others discussed what it was like as a caretaker and/ social worker and the need for additional support services. It was an inspiring event — not because it was put on by a candidate running for office — but because so many were willing to share thier story in order to build a just future for all.

I was recently on a panel on the harms of reckless data center growth (I was there for my job in environmental justice, not as a candidate). No amount of 💰 from Big Tech is worth hurting communities. It’s why I've fought them so hard in Va, and why I will fight for accountability in Congress.

Big Tech’s data centers are draining our water, polluting our air, and driving up electric bills — all without any accountability or transparency. I’ve fought back with communities in Va (and won). I’ll do it again in Congress. It’s time for leaders who prioritize people over Big Tech profits.

Republicans like Wittman love to pretend they love our country, but there’s nothing patriotic about tax breaks for billionaires while families can’t afford basic care. Real patriotism is believing America can do better — that we can take care of every person in this country with dignity & fairness.

When people in power fail to listen to their constituents, it's up to us to hold them accountable. Wittman has forgotten how to listen, and he’s not the only one. We need to reform the rules, so we can restore representation for the rest of us — that's how we revitalize the American Dream.
