The Liberal party has a long history in Scarborough, but Rouge Park has been showing increased NDP support over the last few elections. We felt Dr. Beckford’s experience in community work along with polling data gives him the edge, but with the PC incumbent having been elected with 50% of the vote, this riding is very hard to flip.

Previously a safe Liberal seat under Mitzie Hunter, Scarborough-Guildwood continued its Liberal legacy by electing Andrea Hazell in a very close three-way by-election in 2023. Facing a general election for the first time, we are hearing that Hazell is running a well-organized campaign and response at the door has been really good. Still, the PCs are clearly gunning for this seat.

NOTES
We endorsed Lee Fairclough in 2022, where she came within 850 votes of beating the PCs. Our volunteers report that her ground game is strong and highly organized, and that people are responding very well to Lee’s personal story as a hospital president who left the role to run for government because she felt she could do more to fix healthcare at a policy level.
