Millions of dollars have been raised on both sides of the aisle for campaigns in the voter approved new districts. Shutting down their campaigns is very attractive to candidates because they get to control the donation money. If there's no new districts, I'm returning 100% of my donations.

There is no clearer case for the necessity of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 than how quickly southern states moved to eliminate Black-majority districts and dilute Black power after SCOTUS eroded Section 2. SCOTUS’s reasoning was immediately disproven by reality.

A lot of people want to frame getting rid of laws that stop more affordable housing from being built as "deregulation". Getting rid of rules created specifically to enforce racial segregation is always the right move. We have to make it easier and cheaper to build more housing. That's it.
