Today’s workshop on species conservation planning for sharks is underway! Starting off with Lydia Koehler talking giving an introduction to species conservation planning. We then heard from Jamie Copsey from the IUCN CPSG on best practice principles in conservation planning.

Continuing our expert talks was Simone Niedermüller on the Mediterranean action plan for sharks under the Barcelona Convention. This was followed by Ali Hood and Eva Meyers discussing the CMS action plan development for angel sharks and work on guitarfishes.

Wrapping up the morning session was Irene Kingma sharing lessons from the tope action plan. This afternoon included group work to identify barriers + solutions to successful conservation in the Med, W Africa, Indo-Pacific, Atlantic and High Seas focusing on single or multiple species as examples.
