Def agree the world map in Fortune's Weave is hard to navigate 😮‍💨 it tells you how many turns it takes to reach a particular point, but it doesn't account for Posthouses and other fast travel mechanics :/ Also Fabio is the best FE character! I picked Dietrich as my first path just for him

I didn't mind MacOS Tahoe and the liquid glass redesign, but opening my MacBook to Golden Gate just now was like a breath of fresh air. What the hell was Apple thinking with Tahoe 😮‍💨

You're a software developer. It makes sense why you would feel this way about LLMs. But most people aren't developers. They haven't seen AI meaningfully improve their lives, or provide anything in a way that justifies what AI takes away. They certainly haven't had their understanding of self altered

The App Store is full of great film-simulation camera apps, but those kinds of apps on Android are sketchy garbage that take bad photos. Not Candela Camera though! It properly uses the Android camera API with high quality film simulation, built-in & imported LUTs, and it's $5 for a lifetime license!

I say this as para-socially friendly advice from a fan. The instinct to defend yourself, even rightfully so, almost never manifests well on the internet. Abusive content should be called out and reported, but otherwise, it's best to ignore those that are being disingenuous or unreasonable.

Evancito @voltairecapellan.com · 21/07/2026

I think there's strategic value in what you did appearing on TC's podcast, and I agree a lot of people are being unreasonable, rude, or cruel in response. But these series of posts you've made aren't a good look. You can't solve a problem made by posting with more posting.

Not surprising given everything that's happened since her win. There's a weird vibe around her

010

Evancito @voltairecapellan.com · 08/07/2026

I think that's unfair. The premium is for an ultra small-form factor PC that's cool & quiet, has official support, and doesn't need assembly. And we all know it was supposed to be $200-$300 cheaper than it ended up being. Not saying it's for you or that you have to like it, but it's not "trash".

Supergirl was good! It's no Casablanca, but its emotional moments are worth getting through some of the cringier parts.

It tries to be cute, makes it cartoony, adds a shitty caption you didn't ask for, fakes transparency with a broken checkerboard pattern, and to top it all off, there's no way to actually add the sticker to Gboard 💀 this is insanity. Let us make stickers in Gboard again please 😭

Original image that I wanted to turn into a sticker. Woman in her room dramatically pointing at the camera with a horrified expression on her face.

AI GENERATED IMAGE. Result of uploading the original image to Gemini with the prompt "make this a sticker for gboard". It is a "digital drawing" version of the original image with the caption "'YOU ARE A MESS!' OR 'GET YOUR LIFE!'". Seemingly Gemini couldn't pick between either caption, so it put both. The image doesn't actually have a transparent background. Instead, it poorly mimics the usual checkerboard pattern used to represent transparency. The checkerboard pattern is broken and inconsistent.

000

Evancito @voltairecapellan.com · 14/06/2026

YOU CAN'T MAKE STICKERS IN GBOARD ANYMORE. They replaced the + button with a "create images in Gemini" button that opens the Gemini app and that's it. No template or premade prompt. If you upload an image and say "make a sticker"...

Screenshot of the stickers menu in Gboard. Above the stickers is a button that says "Try creating images in Gemini"

The sticker situation on Android is a MESS. You used to be able to make stickers 1) in Gboard 2) in Google Messages or 3) in Google Photos. All three options kinda sucked and were all siloed from each other. The best option was GBoard cause it was easy and you could use them in any app. But now...

I think the origin of the backrooms concept being an internet meme saddles the movie with a lot of baggage, both from fans of the internet lore and from people not familiar and skeptical of it. Which is a shame because it really holds up on its own, in spite of it all.

010

Evancito @voltairecapellan.com · 31/05/2026

I had low expectations for Backrooms, especially as someone who was never into the internet lore of it all. But man, it was really impressive! It felt very timely with musings on male entitlement and the loneliness epidemic. And the set design, cinematography, acting, and sound design are all 10/10

Finished Blue Prince last night and did NOT expect there to be so much more to do after finding room 46. But I think I'm content to leave it at that. It was a great time! Looking for more puzzle games as good as Blue Prince, Return of the Obra Dinn, and Outer Wilds!

I've learned so much in the week since I've started. I've always had approximate knowledge of front-end web languages so it's been really cool to fill in the gaps. The goal is to be job-ready by the end of it!

Once I got my system figured out, it's rock solid! Very set it and forget it, you just gotta figure out how to get it set. And before you can do that, you have to figure out what it is that you want. Obsidian can do a lot, but it's got no opinions about what you should do or how it should work.

020

Evancito @voltairecapellan.com · 03/03/2026

Obsidian is the Linux of note-taking apps. Most features you could need are possible and free... As long as you're willing to spend hours messing with syncing plugins and static website generators 😮‍💨
