And there's some rhetoric surrounding the recent Capcom announcement that they're "developing a game development engine for the AI generation", I *understand* that they meant the era. However, what is being described isn't innocent. It's still an LLM, and it's still as destructive.

Fuck spectrum indeed. Took them going through 6 techs to even acknowledge the problem was on their end. I ended up having to download triangulation and diagnostics software to DO THEIR JOB FOR THEM and figure out which box was causing the ingress.

I think this is why I rarely use genres to describe games. If narrative is the focus, that's what latch on to. If the mechanics support the narrative and don't get in the way of my immersion, they fit. If mechanics are your focus, the narrative needs to support that. But what to call it?

I played Fallout 3 in a common area of the dorms every night. Eventually this one girl came by and asked me lots of questions about it. She'd get really interested and kept convincing me to take the evil route. About 3 weeks into this, she started just sitting in my lap. No idea how I didn't know.

It's a bit of a Catch-22, because a lot of the storefronts that ARE good for devs don't often have the same traction. Just kind of have to prioritize what's important to you, but that's the same with any technical decision.

I think Valve's success comes from doing the bare minimum for decent service and doing their best to not rock the boat. Winning by maintaining the status quo. Like, I remember folks were up in arms about their DRM, but it's about as light as it can get. Hell, most DOS licenses can be run portably.
