AI voiceover is like a novice voice actor who has some natural voice acting chops BUT... can't take direction... or repeat what they did... or understand why they did it... or vary each take so they sound different in subtle but impactful ways from one take to the next... (1/3)

Wtf... Absolutely terrible. I'm sorry to hear this. On a continually morbid note, I've wondered what my clients would do if the same thing happened to me. Would my wife inform my clients or something? Should I have a plan in place? It sounds ridiculous... but like... ?

Lots of possibilities here, but as I think about it, I love the sound of relief and excitement from the client at the end of a live, directed session. We got through it and they're happy. Which means I'm happy, too!

I don't think people warn aspiring voice actors enough about the daily rejection you will receive in this biz. Couple the rejection with being by yourself most days, and it can become deeply isolating. And very bad for your mental health. Find your people in VO and lean on each other plz. ❤️

I say this mostly as a reminder to myself. I've been far too "proud" over the years to allow myself to share the frustrations that come with this profession. And to share those frustrations with my fellow voice actors. There's a lot that sucks about this job but it's okay to admit it!

Oh, it's night and day on views. I knew this one would do better. It blew up in a pro FB VO group. People are also just better at envisioning the positives of this job, so hearing about negatives is lot more intriguing.

You're right - negativity does sell. However, I made both videos to show the pros and cons of getting into this profession. Would I get into voiceovers now after knowing what I know? Yes, probably. But I wish I knew more about the negatives, so I could have been better prepared to handle them.
