Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 22/09/2026i had completely forgotten about the Earthmen. i had a cd of theirs in the 90s. 010
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 06/09/2026those KARP cds a) rule extremely hard, and b) are worth a fair bit of $$ because they've been out of print for like 20 years. 111
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 24/08/2026i have a Syitren R300 that i use daily & have no complaints. 120
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 19/08/2026Also i didn't see what this was in response to. Bummer about Frank Beard. 🥲 020
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 25/07/2026i was gonna say the same. The only time I've made that much on local gigs were opening slots for way bigger bands at big places, or college gigs where they had an entertainment budget to burn. i've never done the cover band thing though, so maybe that's more lucrative. 180
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 23/07/2026side note: Anacrusis ruled. they were local, and they were weird enough in a Voivod kinda way that metalheads and the more openminded hardcore kids both loved them. 020
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 15/07/2026don't forget about those souless drum machines as well! 😂 121
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 15/07/2026i am never not thinking about the offhand joke about a weight loss reality tv show for psychics called "Large Mediums" 020
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 17/06/2026st louis' own!! (they moved to NYC after this first record) Side one of this album is an all-time favorite of mine. I've warmed up to their dub stuff (which is most of side two) over the years, but it's still not really my thing... 020
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 13/06/2026i own this Millimetric. The builder, Florian, is an artist! 080
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 04/06/2026true st louis weirdness! they have a few 7" singles that are well worth finding. i was just thinking about this song recently: youtu.be/5d5pTKDv8Y4?...youtu.beFruitcake - Anna MarinaYouTube video by Sentient Hair Records & Tapes 000
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 18/05/2026I still regularly use the Hamilton folding stand that my guitar teacher gifted me in the early 90s. I, too, have a heavy duty Manhasset stand, but that one stays at home. 000
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 17/04/2026New release! "House of bads" is an explosive collaboration between guitar shrapnel expert Christopher Trull and drum machine selector David B. Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 09/04/2026the venue in Philly was pretty small, so my wife (who is 5'0", and therefore needs a good vantage point to see anything at all) and i got there early & staked out a spot right by the stage! 010
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 09/04/2026Nice! i saw them in Philly last week. they were amazing! 110
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 31/03/2026I can relate. I still prefer recording with an analogesque workflow (faders/knobs vs screens/mouse clicks). For tracking I use a Tascam model 12 and operate it the same way I used four track machines BITD. But the options for dumping files down to a computer for editing, mixing, etc., are limitless. 010
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 26/03/2026i've had friends run into issues with master copies from the 90's because DAT tapes were unplayable. it'll be crazy in another 30 years when people want to remix and remaster from a ProTools session that will likely not even be accessible on whatever the current tech might be! 110
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 12/03/2026Husker Du's version of 'Eight Miles High' with absolutely throat shredding vocals and the most abrasive guitar tone ever recorded is an all time favorite of mine. 000
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 24/02/2026...kind of like a more pleasant sounding version of prepared-guitar era Jim O'Rourke (Remove the Need, Tamper, etc) 112
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 20/02/2026easy to get around - walkable, reliable & convenient public transit, decent roads. 121
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 10/02/2026@disciplinepr.bsky.social i've worked with Dan Volohov at Discipline PR on several projects, and highly recommend! 120
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 18/01/2026heh. no record label i've ever worked with has paid for writing and rehearsing, and only rarely for actually recording...so maybe the savings are just to not have to deal with asshole artists. 🤣 110

Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 27/11/2025i think i've gone solo to shows significantly more times than i've gone with other people! it's great! 030
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 19/11/2025i wish the stickers were available for individual purchase. i love the sticker that came with the 'Staircase...' preorder. i have the books aready! 110
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 19/11/2025i guess just have to get really into period dramas, or something... 010
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 19/11/2025i’ve developed a real hatred for the constant cell phone notification dings/ringtones in virtually every show/movie set in the present day. i turn all that shit off on my own phone, only to get assaulted with it when i try to chill out and watch something. it's awful. 131
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 18/10/2025i rarely pay attention to lyrics EVER, unless they jump out at me as really good or really bad. 010
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 16/10/2025Pitchblende 'Au Jus' a masterpiece of angular, mathy melodic noise rock. it must be a victim of some sort of record label/publishing rights weirdness, because it's not available on any streaming services with the exception of this video: youtu.be/yvbJ44J4q68youtu.bepitchblende - Nine Volt (Au Jus) Music VideoYouTube video by pitchblendequartet 000
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 13/10/2025it was great! i loved playing James' songs. i was in the studio for 2 days & we tracked 5 songs. only 2 of them are on the record, though (Adie & Home and Horizon). hopefully the other 3 will come out someday! 010
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 13/10/2025i just put up an album of guitar improvisations heavy on asynchronous looping and slowly evolving clouds of sound. enjoy! Reposted by VoerkingGreg Olear @gregolear.bsky.social · 06/10/2025Serious question: What's stopping the State of Illinois from arresting Stephen Miller & charging him with incitement? The Senate didn't confirm him. He's just a guy. At some point, the states MUST use their authority to prosecute, because the federal government certainly will not. 58190055900
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 30/09/2025i like Loop for sleeping, but they block out too much sound for listening, imo. i use Hearos for music. Etymotics are similar, and also work well. 010
Voerking @voerking.bsky.social · 10/09/2025hmmm. i've never been a weed person & i love Jim's music. suddenly it all makes sense. 010
