The Politics of Care: The Pot Lid of Resistance in Colombia’s Street Cooking - GLOBAL SOUTHS HUB The Politics of Care: The Pot Lid of Resistance in Colombia’s Street Cooking
What does it mean to care in contexts shaped by uncertainty? In this piece, three scholars (Ana María Cruz, Viviana García Pinzón and Jan Grill) based in Colombia and Germany reflect on the complexities and contradictions of care and care work, and the political implications and potential of caring in contexts of protests, violence, and marginalisation. The article centres on the experiences of women activists in the city of Cali, Colombia. Through practices such as ollas comunitarias – collective community kitchens – it examines how care becomes not only a means of survival, but also a form of resistance and political action. What does it mean to care in contexts shaped by uncertainty? Current debates are characterized by a simplification, if not outright distortion, of decolonial and postcolonial perspectives. In this article, @anikaoettler.bsky.social reviews intersecting arguments at the core of both approaches and reflects on their contributions to PACS. shorturl.at/RxwYN

Whenever I watched WWII documentaries, I always found myself puzzled and questioning the complicity and the audacity of Hitler's making public speeches with such hate. Now, watching T*mp and his fellow devil, I am still in the same state of questioning. Maybe it is true that time is an illusion.
