Some #glitchart flowers from last year. Original image from a trip to the local botanical garden.
Shallow depth of field image of red and white flowers surrounded by leaves on a bush. The colors are spread and rotated by an algorithm based on the original pixel color so the vague shape of flowers and leaves are still there, but the white flowers are now a colorful almost neon abstract rainbow, the red flowers were mostly fuzzy in the original image and are still fuzzy and mostly still red, and the leaves have an almost oil slick appearance with vague edges. Describing glitch art for alt text is difficult sorry.A cropped version of the original image. Shallow depth of field image of bunches of white flowers surrounded by leaves with red flowers out of focus in the foreground to the bottom left and top right. Rhododendrons I believe.

Fun fact when I initially started working on this project my first concept was a music visualizer. Now 10+ years later I'm finally working on the audio reactivity part. Audio here from the Risk of Rain 2 soundtrack by Chris Christodoulou. Some flashing lights warning. #glitchart

Work was exhausting this week and I didn't want to go outside today so I did more work on my app instead. Tweaking shaders, adding more options. #glitchart
A version of the quoted photo run through a glitch filter.
The mountain is still recognizable from the shape of it, but it's made up of streaky horizontal lines of varying colors now.

Split "cubic" controls into x and y axis so they can be controlled separately.
The flowers have been sliced vertically and groups of pixels are moved left and right.

I guess I'm collecting photos of other birds attacking bald eagles now. Here's an osprey I saw yesterday. #photography #birds
An osprey dives at a bald eagle perched at the top of a fir tree. The osprey has its talons reaching out in front, and the eagle has its wings spread and beak open.

I can barely tell anything beyond the shape and color here. Would you say it looked more like an insect eating beak than a seed eater? Any size estimate?
a blown up, very low fidelity image of the section of the above image with the bird in it.

Sometimes something happens and you just have to hope your camera settings are good enough where they're already at. I had so little time to react to this, and the light and background changed as they flew across the lake. Crazy way to see a peregrine falcon for the first time. #photography #birds

A touch of color at sunrise on a morning I wasn't already at work by this time of day. #photography #landscape
A lake view just before sunrise. The foreground is dark with grasses, irises, and a lake with lots of water plants in the foreground, a tree lined skyline, and wispy clouds with a touch of red from the sunrise.

There's some very low tides in the Salish Sea this week. Here's a gull doing some fishing in a tide pool. This move they do really amuses me. #birds #pnw
A profile shot of a gull leaping out of the water. Wings spread, feet pushing off, creating a splash below it.The same gull at the peak of its leap. Its wings are spread, head and body are tilted down, and its feet are fully out of the water. The gull with its head in the water. Wings still spread, whole body tilted nearly vertically, feet tucked, and wings still spread.

Not usually one to spend a lot of time taking pictures of flowers, but I sure saw a lot of flowers yesterday. I think they're rhododendrons? Not a plant expert by any stretch. #photography #flowers

Messing around with recording video a bit. Here's a marsh wren singing on a branch. (featuring a background of many other birds). I love the range of sounds they make. #birds

I watched this crow pester the bald eagle for nearly half an hour. Eventually it was successful in driving the eagle away. Or possibly the eagle decided it had somewhere else to be. #photography #birds

I finally got some clear, close, and in focus shots of marsh wrens this week after trying for a couple of weeks. Their song is one of the first I've learned to be able to identify because of its uniqueness. I feel like I need birdsong flashcards. #photography #birds

I was pleasantly surprised to see how the out of focus areas of this image of a kingfisher turned out. I'm almost more interested in the background than the subject here. #photography
A profile shot of a belted kingfisher sitting on the tip of a large dead branch, its beak slightly open. The background has interesting out of focus patterns created by more bare branches in the light.

Caught this marsh wren collecting cattail fluff yesterday morning. The quest for a good clear picture of one of these little birds continues, but I really like this shot. #birds #photography

Waterbirds make me wish for a newer camera with a flippy screen. I laid down on the shore of the pond so I could see these ring necked ducks through my viewfinder at their eye level. Luckily there was a dry patch. #birds #photography

I have an example of this button's effect on a chickadee from last week. I liked the photo anyway.

Playing with the tilt-shift lens more. There's really a ton of chromatic aberration in this lens, maybe because it's quite an old design, but I enjoy the results anyway. Definitely have one of the updated wider angle tilt shifts on my wish list. #photography

Playing with a tilt shift lens in the woods. This feels more like a proof of concept shot than a final shot I'm really happy with, but it's an interesting effect. I'll be looking for variations on this idea. Playing with the plane of focus like this is fun but really not easy. #photography
Tilt shift woodland photograph. There's one green leaf in focus in the foreground at the top of the image, and some tree trunks in the midground are in focus.

I have been hesitant to post this one because of the lack of obvious subject in this photo, but I enjoy the shapes created by the trees on the sides against the foreground and background. A photo of the shapes of the woods. #photography
A winter conifer woodland scene. The ground is covered in leafless plants sticking out from snow, and trees on the sides frame the foreground and more trees in the background, creating an upward and downward arrow pattern.

I tried going back to the same spot the following day, but conditions weren't nearly as good. There was more snow on the background, less snow on the subject tree, and that beautiful bit of mist on the ground was gone.
Same description as the image I've replied to. The angle of the image is slightly different, and there's less snow on the subject tree, but more on the background. A bare round little tree in a snowy field with its branches covered in snow. There is another smaller and less uniformly shaped bare tree to the right and snowy forest, mostly evergreens, in the background.

I liked this tree on my walk this morning. We don't get snow too often so it's exciting. I wish I could go back and take a couple steps left when I took this picture to get a little separation from that other bare tree in the background. Trying to learn from all the photos I take. #photography

I'm still learning my editing tools. Have I made this better, worse, or some of both? Is there something I should have done more or less on? The tools for masking and spot adjustments in rawtherapee are extremely far from intuitive. Bit of a struggle there. #photography
Minor adjustments to the above image. Some parts brighter, some darker, and I've cloned out a distracting clear patch of snow on the hillside to the right.

More practice with bird photography. These little ones sure don't sit still for long. It was a very cold morning for my area so I didn't want to sit still for long either. #photography #birds #naturephotography

I love moss. Every time I'm out with my camera I'm tempted to take pictures of all the mossy branches and rocks I come across. Which is nearly every branch and rock in a lot of places around here. #pnw #photography
A mossy branch that curves up from the bottom left of frame and then back down to the bottom right, and splits at the highest point into another branch that goes off the top of frame. The image has very shallow depth of focus and is backlit.

Downside of not tracking usage statistics for your website: no idea if people find it fun or useful. Upsides: not obsessing over how many visitors you have, or contributing to internet surveillance. Still working on new filters and improvements but it's been very busy and I've been outside more.
Photo abstracted into colored rectangles separated by black bars in a grid. Original photo was my cat sitting in front of my computer screens in the dark but it's unrecognizable now.
