Look, you might be okay with an LLM making wild 235-file commits to fix one tiny thing, but I'm a professional. All my fucking shit up is 100% human-powered.
The commit, titled "The Sunk Const Fallacy", with 1988 additions and 1981 deletions to 235 files.

Maybe I should finally give up on code and go into modern art or whatever the fuck this is. "Crying over spilled CMYK", 2026, Three.js, Rust, lots of nested loops. #color #cmyk #printing

Happy to learn @mechasystems is the correct amount of "paranoid". They'll be fine I think.
Discord convo:

Me: honestly the fact that production is happening somewhere you can come and film is a bigger confidence boost for me than everything else combined. the number of "our china middleman stole our money and factory refuses to work for free" stories in kickstarter projects is wild

Shoaib from Mecha: We are too paranoid to do that 🫣, I cannot be convinced. That is why we are DIYing everything.

We actually send our team while the assembly is going on, so queries can be resolved faster and we can verify stuff in person. So when the first board comes out we can validate quickly and give a greenlight for the remaining batch.

On the revision 7 pcb, while our team was there, we could identify on xray that some of the processors had their tiny bga balls dislodged mostly due to domestic shipping. So we could skip those components in queue. Since then we are further paranoid that we actually send our vehicle with the components instead of couriers.

I'm in this image and I don't like it. (www.researchgate.net/publication/23…)
Excerpt from the linked article:

This trend implies that color reproduction is no longer
a domain of specially-trained experts but is a facility
required by a large audience. Hence, it is of importance
to provide a transparent and unobtrusive system for
color reproduction and any such system will necessar-
ily have to include gamut mapping as an essential fea-
ture. In this setting the availability of a universally
applicable gamut mapping solution is of paramount
importance as potential users would not have the skills
for choosing among a number of algorithms intended
only for application in specific situations and neither
would having to make such a choice be acceptable.

My Limited Edition M50xBT2 just became Ultra Exclusive Limited Cozy Edition, courtesy of @nof 🧡
A photo of a pair of over-ear headphones (Audio-Technica M50xBT2). The headphones are in a "metallic orange" color, except for the earpads and the headband, the latter has now been wrapped in a beautifully and carefully knit orange headband cover. The color doesn't quite match but meshes really nicely with the orange and black.

The headphones are laid on a polyester printout of allegedly a Pantone chart showing mostly shades of orange. It's pretty dirty because I use it as a mousepad.

I think I might like orange.

A screenshot of the "Body" section of the article showing how the movement of the embroidery needle is controlled using twenty bits encoding addition and subtraction of powers of 3 (x/y plus/minus 1, 3, 9, 27, 81)

The arrangement of the bits makes it obvious it was punched into paper by humans and read by a machine as it went, but why powers of three is less clear.

An aerial view of the Stockholm archipelago somewhere around Vättersö I think. Lots of greenish islands of various sizes and clear deep blue water. It's early Saturday morning and weather is great. @whitequark there's even a fedi molecule!
Furfuryl Furfurate
A ridiculously-named molecule, about which I know virtually nothing, although I'm told it's quite smelly and may be used as a vapour phase polymerisation inhibitor. It got its name from the Latin "furfur", meaning "bran" (the source of the compound). A related molecule, furfural alcohol is apparently used in the fabrication process of the Reinforced Carbon-Carbon (RCC) sections used in the space shuttle.

Can't figure out if this is any better or worse than "planting trees"
AirBaltic checkout upsell: Starting in 2025, Europe will mandate adding SAF to jet fuel, beginning with 2% in 2025 and increasing to 70% by 2050. To accelerate this transition, you can opt to add more SAF voluntarily. We commit to using the fuel you contribute within 12 months.

Options range from 88 cents for "approx 2%" to 44 for 100%, presumably referring to the average amount of fuel required to carry an average passenger, which my fat ass certainly exceeds.

Heeeey. I just remembered I have a silly phone gamepad I wanted to use on the GPD (but it didn't quite fit, it not being a phone). But now I have a phone that can run AntiMicroX. Which means:
An Ipega "phone-hugging" one-sided gamepad put around a Xiaomi Poco X3, effectively extending it on the bottom to have a physical joystick, d-pad and extra two side buttons. The screen shows AntiMicroX, used to rebind the joystick to be a "scroll wheel" and d-pad to be arrows. Bindings are rotated since the whole setup is supposed to be horizontal. But it looks way more cyberpunk like that, and is also surprisingly usable.

Yes, those are CDs on my ceiling. No, you don't want to know.

Google's stupid LLM burning a tree to helpfully explain to me a common culinary statement I just made up right now.

The phrase "three forks are better than four spoons" is a common culinary and cultural statement. It suggests that forks are more versatile and useful than spoons, especially when it comes to eating solid foods. Spoons are primarily for liquids and slurping, while forks allow you to cut, pick up, and manipulate food more effectively.
