When artists etc are open to it and willing to learn, it's pretty clear, even when they're approached with some vitriol. I don't think anyone who writes us off because people are frustrated was ever going to be a good ally.

I can say I'm not pro-dogpiling but I'm also not sure that fixating on respectability will get us what we want, and neither will trying to count every loss. People will hate us for any reason we give them, even polite ones, especially if it gets between them and fun.

And unfortunately I just don't think there is a right answer. Even people who know often just don't care, it doesn't affect them. Any approach gets people who will hate you and hate trans people for no reason, or just because you tried. Even approaching friends reasonably can get you destroyed

Like you can try to have conversations too but that often ends the same way. And we often talk about people outside of "the west" not knowing, which is sometimes true and sometimes not. It honestly feels as likely that people just don't really care that much about us to begin with.

I'm of two minds. It feels more like the culmination of trans people very loudly begging people not to engage with HP and finally hitting a point of anger about it. On one hand being harassed off a platform sucks, on the other it always feels like our options are nothing but "Shut up about it"

I'm by no means for LLMs or whatever but i do think it's a bit annoying that it's just a foregone conclusion any AI we get would lead to Terminator, I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream, or the Matrix. Everyone is always talking about the AI enslaving us or something.
