the crazy thing about this trend is how badly this exposes that these people have the same attachment and awareness of video games as scalpers do for pokemon

The adaptation does seem a little but not wholly closer to the manga as we kinda expected too, so the pace definitely matches how Yoshizaki wrote those chapters back then (and kinda still does).

Viroro-kun @viroro.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Personally I don't mind the slower pace: the characters feel right enough, and I feel comparing first episodes things are about as madcap in the relative spot. I'm sure things may get a little more hectic once the rest of the cast gathers, but don't mind if they stay chill.

Checking prior versions, there actually is an equivalent in the manga chapter! Natsumi had a talk with two generic friends, though it was about invasion movies: it does keep the gist of the scene to have Natsumi relate this to Keroro's situation, though. The reaction is kinda from the manga, too.

I think I finally found why the "but what about trans surgeries on minors" argument bugs me so much. No rational person would find it "concerning" or "controversial" if a surgeon cut a cancerous tumor out of a 15-year-old but be totally fine if they did it to an 18-year-old.

Your position is fundamentally incoherent and can only be explained by personal discomfort. "I support gender-affirming care (the kinds of which I will conveniently not name or specify), which qualified doctors say is safe, effective and necessary, except for 'surgeries' (the kinds of which I will conveniently not name or specify), which I find concerning to be performed on a person 17 years 364 days old, but I would support without question if a person is a single day older than that."

I cannot stress enough that no rational person thinks this way about any other form of medical treatment.

Even just allowing them to ditch the Flare wholesale and embrace the Nouveau part would make the arc more complete imho. Do something like how in SM the Team Skull members have different designs after the team disbands, and show they can move on to make an actually beautiful world on their terms.

Viroro-kun @viroro.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Artistic age is definitely at play, since they do say they were children of members and set to be inducted high in the ranks before Flare went down. To add to this, they even make clear they are the sort of lower class people Flare would’ve wiped out by now, and actually help the community.

Viroro-kun @viroro.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

I do wish they leaned more on the idea they are basically children of cult members that were groomed into the ideology. There are definitely signs that Grisham is realizing the whole clinging to Flare is a bad idea but given Flare Noveau is 'their faction' they kinda never get to make the full jump.

I definitely loved the first ep as an oldhead but I really hope the second episode is written to serve as a proper intro as well, though, just to cover all bases. Though it certainly served Osomatsu-san well to start on a similarly meta episode, so perhaps it will be the right call in the long run.

Viroro-kun @viroro.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

The related fun thing is that while the first part is still distinct it does start as a marching tune clearly leading to a recreation of the sideways walk of Kero to March… then after the screen expands the song completely changes its vibe to be its own thing.
