Authors over on the other apps showing off their beautiful writing corners, and here I am on the couch in a nest of five blankets, hunched over my laptop like a shrimp, with at least three empty cups around me. 💻🦐☕

We need to be loud about the things we love. We need to be loud about our favorite books, movies, songs, art; we need to shout them from the rooftops. Because you know who’s always loud? People who hate things. In this algorithm that rewards negativity, let’s be loud enough to drown the hatred.

An agent's guide to 🌊BENEATH THESE TREACHEROUS WAVES🌊 a queer, adult reimagining of Andersen's The Little Mermaid in an Iceland-inspired setting. #amquerying #agentguide #agentsguide #ownvoices #writingcommunity #writesky #writersky #booksky

Underwater image showing a mermaid’s tail. Overlaid text reads: Beneath These Treacherous Waves - Sapphic reimagining of The Little Mermaid set in the dark, icy north. 105k adult romantic fantasy.

PITCH: Míra, a siren warrior princess, loses all memories of her beloved Skadi when she agrees to marry a human king in exchange for military aid. Skadi the mer Spellweaver strikes a bargain with her deity: if Míra falls in love with her again, her memories will return. But if she gives her heart to another first, Skadi will become the god’s thrall forever.

COMPS, showing two book covers. On the left is is Malice by Heather Walter with arrows labeled: touch her and you die, fairytale retelling, magic comes at a price, feminine rage and YEARNING. On the right is A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland with arrows labeled: YEARING, queernorm world, love vs duty, and found family.

EXCERPT: "The servant led her to a gold-embossed mirror Míra had avoided until now, dreading to face what she had become.
A stranger stared back at her. Her skin had lost its opalescent shine, scales replaced by freckles spilling across her cheeks, shoulders, and chest. She opened her hand, and the reflection did too. The webbing was gone between her fingers, her claws receded into round pink nails. The only thing familiar was her hair, red as sunrise, molten lava, a battlefield.
She wore a deep blue dress that was too tight, stretching on her shoulders and back, made for someone shorter and daintier. She’d scavenged tattered human clothes from among the ruins of sunken ships to play pretend as a child, but it had never occurred to her that she would one day be forced to wear one."

A moodboard of seven images with dark ocean vibes. They show a mermaid’s tail, a snowy fairytale castle, a black-clad crowned figure by crashing waves, a mermaid holding a human woman’s face who is leaning out of a boat, a sailing ship in fog, a woman in armor, and a rocky beach with birds flying overhead.
