I had to listen to Comfortably Numb to recall the opening slide part. It's subtle but definitely gives the track a great atmospheric tone.

Cool. I dig the blue more too. I like the translucent finish with a bit of woodgrain showing through too.

I've attempted playing a lap steel a few times. When played well they sound amazing. But, I haven't dedicated enough time to learn to play it well. It's on the bucket list. That's an interesting one that can be played standing, cool!

I've seen King Lizard a couple of times. Their guitars are wild. This one reminded me of a combo of Vox and Teisco when they played it live. I wonder if that's how they made the original. I think the band made their instruments, if I recall the story correctly.

I saw them around 2018/2019. They were doing a tour of the 2 early albums as Clan Of Xymox. It was a great show. The Pieter Nooten Sleeps with the Fishes album is excellent too.

I love the simplicity of the amp. Nothing more than on/off/volume control. It's really interesting to hear how you configure it for non-standard uses. Good luck with the project.

Exactly! The catalog calls it: "maroon artificial leather". It's early Pleather or something similar. The 1950s were full of interesting facets like this...and they sound pretty great too.

VintageSilvertones.com @vintagesilvertones.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Agreed! They're definitely rare Silvertones/Danelectros. These early ones don't turn up often. That's why we picked up both. Even with the pickguard damage it's still very desirable.

A different take on the fantasy line-up, eh! I should have noted that Emmylou Harris would have the Hot Band backing her. James Burton is the man!

SILVERTONE 1375 - 1pu red-vinyl solidbody metal truss rod Danelectro Neptune NJ 1954. For sale. The day got away from me; too many items on the agenda. So here's the workbench from yesterday. cheers! www.vintagesilvertones.com/product/silv... #VintageGuitar #Guitar #Silvertone #Danelectro
Silvertone 1375 (early U1 series) made by Danelectro of Neptune New Jersey in 1954. It's a solidbody electric guitar with an aluminum bar that runs from the headstock through body. It has a red tolex covering on the body and a white headstock with red Lightning Bolt Silvertone logo on the headstock. It has one pickup, one volume, one tone control and a toggle switch to change the tone. The white plastic pickguard that has the electronics on it including the pickup has a few chips. (See photos). The pickup is strong and sounds great. The volume control works correctly. But, the tone control does not work. Also, it's a bit scratchy sounding. So some small electronics work will need to be done. That's reflected in the price. Otherwise it's very clean but does show some wear around the body edges, a cigarette burn on the headstock, and the paint is worn off on the neck from 70+ years of playing. Photos tell the story. It appears to be all original. No case or gig bag but it will be double-boxed for shipping.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

They're pretty amazing. We've had two of them. This one and a virtually identical Silvertone branded model from the same time period. They're very hard to find and rarely go up for sale.

Yeah, it would work nicely for that, for sure! It's a very thin guitar too. So no back issues for those long sessions.

These guitars were not produced in the same numbers as the amp-in-case or Standard-style models. So not as many out there.

We got this guitar as a project. A friend who does amazing restorations wanted it. So I snapped these photos before sending it to him. Basically, the strings are strung incorrectly. & one is missing. So it makes it seem even more off. It needed work. I'll try to find a foto of the restored version
