Simon and Simone have been hanging out with me for about 15 years. They nest on the chimney above. They hatch three chicks every spring, and bring down eggshell to let me know there are now more mouths to feed.

Tarkovsky didn’t burn down an entire house for the climax of The Sacrifice, only to be told the single camera had jammed, and rebuild the entire house and burn it down again to get the shot, so you could tell me that AI “is inevitable”.

Love this list from @annebillson.bsky.social Especially as I'm currently planning reshoots including a corridor! Here's a couple of my faves that didn't make the list.
Still from last scene of John Frankenheimer's 'Seconds', a terrified Rock Hudson being wheeled down a hospital corridor and realising there's no seconds for him.Still from climax of Scorsese's 'Taxi Driver', Di Nero's Travis Bickle goes gunning for the pimps.

“”where will you place your film on this spectrum, with Control at one end of the rainbow and Spontaneity on the other. The decision…will be different for every film maker, and for every film. But it is a choice that, from now on, and with increasing consequences, we are going to have to make."

Great post! My cine world would be early 60s Paris New Wave. Liberation, energy, dissonance, disillusion, jazz, smoky bars, women and men not getting each other at all and, therefore, sex.

I found this photo in some article somewhere (on here?) and I can't stop looking at it. It's where I want to be.
A sublime cafe, interior lit warmly with old fashioned lamps, bright rear daylight through a window, lots of nice people reading books and drinking tea. Brecht poster and old framed photos on the walls.
