Phases are always: Using AI for a task → moving forward faster → testing → fixing → being frustrated that the AI doesn't achieve what I want → fixing it manually → regretting use of AI → hearing someone talk about THIS new tool or model → trying it out, being excited about AI again → cycle repeats

Today's great moments of SwiftUI: Took me the whole day to find the right 50 lines of code in the right order to get the perfect styling on iPhone, iPhone Duo, iPad, iOS 18, 26 and 27. I think in the end it was the sun, moon and stars aligning while doing a special dance. And LLM? Failed badly.

Well, I have to say I have barely used any of the new Device Hub's features in the last months. BUT I have been missing features that existed before A LOT, in addition to a lot of cursing about continuous crashes, bad performance and various bugs. I also dislike the white box around it.

no that’s the interesting part. if it’s such a simple app idea that someone could easily vibe code it in a short amount of time I feel like it’s not worth building it my own anymore. can’t really explain why but it feels kinda devalued. and on the other hand I don’t have fun vibe coding stuff.

Live activities from two different apps. I didn’t test with two live activities from the same app. Looking at the device log it seems that the issue is that AlarmKit doesn’t get a spot in the dynamic island. Because it can only host two activities at max and there is no clear fallback? Just a guess.

Hm interesting. For me it’s 100% reproducible, also doesn’t work for other third party apps. iOS 27.0, iPhone Air. I could also see in the device logs that likely the other live activities were getting “in the way”.

When you are running two live activities at the same time, alarms triggered via AlarmKit will not ring. The device will just vibrate for a split second, then the alarm silently sits on the lock screen. The system clock app does not have this issue, other third party apps have the same issue.

Every year, my production setup breaks a bit when a new macOS comes out. And it's always waiting for the plugin's maintainer to push an update, often it comes out too late and I need to switch to another plugin. Some break forever because they're not maintained anymore.

I always feel like developing iOS apps and producing music on the same machine are the most incompatible hobbies I could have. For iOS dev, my mac always needs to be up-to-date, sometimes even running a beta. For music production, it feels like it would be better to keep it on Snow Leopard forever 😂

Wow it seems to me Siri AI has made a huge leap forward in DB6! It's the first time all interactions I've tested in my app worked without an issue. Before there was always a time when Siri threw an error or made a mistake in the response. This time all worked out perfectly! Absolutely magical 🧙‍♂️

Thanks! It’s a pretty simple app and mostly used through widgets, so it’s not so easy to do that but I already tried to display it as part of at least what I thought was a positive interaction 😄 Probably gonna try other interactions then.
