This is a HUGE red flag for transportation in Vancouver. Ken Sim is vowing to repeal Gregor Robertson's 2017 delegation of authority to the chief engineer on road allocation. This would mean that every single bike lane and traffic calming scheme has to go to council for a public hearing and vote.
ABC press release with highlighted text reading "Ensure that council has the authority to provide effective oversight of major changes, like the large-scale installation of banana barriers, within Vancover neighbourhoods"

I don't understand buying a new vehicle before the old one is paid off, let alone when the loan balance is higher than the trade-in value. *f you're cycling through cars in shorter time than the loan term, that means you should be leasing. And if you're driving too many miles to lease, then you should be holding on to your car longer than the loan terms (because if you're driving too many miles to lease, your trade-in value is garbage at any rate). When it comes to cars, you need transportation not an always shiny trophy. https://youtu.be/TkiSzqx-8lY?si=D6Sn8VE1fssUTo8_

All the federal parties can agree on something, what a time to be alive www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic...
Opposition parties expressed support Saturday for the Prime Minister’s decision to walk away from the negotiations.

What Trump’s new tariffs mean for Canada’s economy

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre released a statement Saturday morning expressing disappointment that the U.S. has chosen to impose further tariffs on Canada.

“Canadians must stand united to defend our country against these unfair attacks on our jobs and businesses. Canada cannot accept one-sided tariffs that will deindustrialize our country. Nor can we accept a bad deal. Instead, we must continue the fight for tariff-free trade,” he said, adding that he will be seeking a call with Mr. Carney.

“Conservatives support action to protect Canadians and our industries targeted by these unfair U.S. tariffs,” he said. “All Canadians must stand united for our workers, our businesses and our country.”

Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet expressed support for Mr. Carney’s plan to impose counter tariffs. He also said in a statement that the federal government should provide support for affected businesses and workers.

NDP Leader Avi Lewis said the Prime Minister was right to walk away from the negotiating table.

I spoke to Vancouver council tonight in opposition to this motion. ABC can't claim that allowing methane in homes is a pro-housing measure, then immediately move to savage multiplexes to cater to quell specious aesthetic concerns. Part of my remarks:
An hour ago, this Council voted to allow natural gas back into buildings on the false notion that it would unlock housing supply and widen the pipeline for new homes (pun intended).

To be frank, this had no basis in evidence. But nonetheless, you persisted because you said it’s important to create more housing faster and unlock choice for consumers.

I strongly disagree with that vote, but I agree with that philosophy. We need to build housing faster, and this Council should employ the tools at its disposal to do so.

Which is why this motion, as presented, is the height of hypocrisy.

One hour ago, you were willing to move hell and high water—to jettison all of Vancouver’s climate leadership—on a measure that has almost no effect on the housing pipeline and that creates immense regulatory uncertainty.

And now suddenly it’s all about balance. About protecting the views and context sensitivity for existing residents. About, in the words of several speakers tonight, preventing “monstrous” multiplexes.

This is not balance. This is abject surrender.
