Photo of author Sharon Draper““I'm very proud to be on Dan’s Dirty Book List—I have always tried to be a voice for readers and dreamers.
My childhood library was my happy place—I went every single Saturday, checked out ten books (the maximum at the time) and I read just about every book in our local library.
I abhor the thoughts that todays’ children will not have the joyful experience of checking out books and devouring them with passion and pleasure.
Books saved my life and gave me my future. I wish the same for children today." Sharon DraperInfo on Dan Patrick’s List of 2000+ dirty booksDan Patrick made a dirty book list. We made a TBR

Fabulous evening in conversation with Author Andrea Eames about her new fantasy novel “A Tangled Magic”! Loved hearing about her creative process, how she writes empowering books with such intention, and her fascinating life! Her approach to the power (and price) of magic is so unique!

To all who wrote their representative to ask them to vote no on HB 1375 THANK YOU!! The bill is not moving forward! Now on to the next call to action: SB 13 is a poorly written bill that can be weaponized to purge books in school libraries that censors deem "offensive" or without educational value.

If you need to visualize how the book restriction bill SB13 would damage Texas schools, here’s the just-released Free-Response Question 3 (Set 2) from this year’s AP Literature exam. And, next to it, here’s the same question with the books that would be banned from schools under the bill whited out.
A screenshot of FRQ 3 from the 2025 AP Literature exam, including a list of 37 novels that can be used to help students answer the question. An image of the same FRQ, but with books that would banned from Texas schools under SB13 whited out. Only 14 of the 37 books remain.

The TX legislature is coming after books. HB 1375 lets anyone sue bookshops for damages if their minor accessed content they deemed “harmful.” It's a bad bill & will have a chilling effect on your 1st Amendment rights. Tell your rep to vote NO on HB 1375. Find your rep: wrm.capitol.texas.gov/home
