I’ve assessed the business opportunities in the coming post-apocalyptic world and decided to buy one donkey jack of the Giant breed and a dozen Percheron mares. I will dominate the mule market!

I really hope Bluesky is not representative of the Democratic electorate. Because if it is rather than form the broad antifascist coalition that we need, we’re going to waste our best chance to stop fascism with brutal infighting.

It took 16 years for the antifascist movement in Hungary to coalesce and finally come together to oust Orban. I am afraid that we here in the US will be even slower to give up our purity tests, our opposition to anyone that’s a socialist, a Republican, or Green or Libertarian. I am 73 years old.

A prisoner avoids a death sentence by promising the king he will teach a horse to sing in one year. When his cellmates ask him why he made an impossible promise, he replies:"A lot can happen in a year. The king might die. I might die. The horse might die. And, maybe the horse will learn to sing."

I no longer believe we can afford to criticize any Democrat (even anti-Trump Independents or Republicans). This includes Platner, Schumer, AOC, Sanders, Jeffries, and even Fetterman (but doesn’t preclude primarying him if he runs for reelection). We need the broadest anti-Fascist front possible.

We need to remember that we, the voters of the United States, elected Donald John Trump as our President. Even if (like me) you didn’t vote for him, two thirds of your neighbors, friends, relatives either voted for President Trump or didn’t vote. Like it or not, this is who we now are as a people.

If you’re interested in what’s going to happen from now until the 2026 elections, the important thing is what Republicans in competitive districts do after the primaries. Until the primaries are over incumbents will protect their right flank. Afterwards they may vote as they need to to be reelected

It’s a matter of Spheres of Influence. The US gets the Western Hemisphere; Russia gets the former Soviet Union; China gets all of Southeast Asia. For the moment, Western Europe, India and Oceana remain independent and Africa and the Middle East (except Israel) are a free for all.

The problem is the Democrats are in the minority. Unless you can break apart the solid block of Republicans, then you will always lose. The Republicans have shown no sign of breaking. Would it be better to keep the government shutdown until January 2027 than take this sucky deal? I don’t know

Because a large chunk of them cares more about access than actually doing their jobs. If they lose the access, they lose their book deals, etc. There are very few out there who actually want to hold politicians feet to the fire anymore - Trump’s most pointed questions come from foreign journos.

For the first time, Trump’s policies have directly made my life worse. His tariffs have pushed the price of my beloved Kerry Gold butter beyond what I’m willing to pay. So now I will have to make do with Land o Lakes or Falfurrias, which are the best domestic butters widely available in our area.

If you live in a completely Republican area where everyone already does whatever the Regime wants then you don’t have to worry about martial law, right? And if I use the self-checkout at the grocery store and pay at the pump, I never have to talk to my neighbors. I need a dog in the worst way.

In response complaints about the Democratic Party: We, the people, gave complete control to the Republicans. Nobody is coming to save us. As Beto said, “We are the Cavalry.” As Tim Snyder said, “Be as brave as you can be.” When the people are ready, a leader will emerge. Keep hope alive!

Hundreds of international students have just received an email telling them their visas have been revoked. The ‘justification’ is campus activism or social media posts. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/hun...
The biggest reason government officials aren't giving any specifics about the criteria by which these arrests and deportations are selected, is that the criteria is "pro-Israel think-tanks and advocacy organizations created lists of troublesome individuals and gave them to us."

The budget situation is the Kobayashi Maru. Every choice loses. But it might be even worse. The Democratic Party may tear itself apart over the decision, whatever it is, ensuring years of Republican rule, even if somewhat fair elections are allowed.
