At times like this, the mask really comes off the British media. There is no pretence - at all - about their impartiality or objectivity towards the Green Party. It is a blatant naked partisan cross-media assault against the Greens.

This story is about so much more than one man and one company. It’s about the corruption of our British democracy through the subtle intermingling of the financial and political interests of our political class and the world’s most powerful corporations. open.substack.com/pub/zeteouk/...

Why Is a Labour Lord Now Paid by Palantir – and What Does it Mean For Our Democracy?
Ex-Labour deputy leader Tom Watson just got hired by a controversial US tech company seeking taxpayer-funded state contracts. The intermingling of politicians and corporations corrupts our democracy.

The treatment of Jason Arday was massively out of proportion to his faults. People who have committed terrible crimes have received less scrutiny, yet I don't believe anything he did or said even crossed the threshold of criminality. How many of us would have survived what he was put through? 🧵

"Privatisation is exacerbating inequality as households pay their bills into the pockets of the world’s richest, simply to meet their basic needs." Kate Bayliss writes for my Substack on her new book 'Privatising Humanity'. graceblakeley.substack.com/p/time-to-ca...

Time to call time on Thatcher’s privatisation model
Forty years on, Britain’s privatisation experiment has enriched shareholders and hollowed out public services — it’s time to try something different.

Keir Starmer lied through his teeth to become Labour leader. He justified Israeli war crimes, arrested opponents of genocide, attacked pensioners, disabled people and migrants, pocketed freebies, crushed dissent and threw others under the bus to save himself. History damns him

The police (wrongly) inform a peaceful protestor that holding a Palestinian flag and signs deploring genocide is an offence under the Terrorism Act. This is the deranged policing environment the government has created.

Making economic growth the overriding purpose, to which all else must be sacrificed, not only trashes ecological and social values. It's also spectacularly bad politics. Governments can't control growth, but when it dips, this government, by its own criteria, fails. A rod for its own back.

Yet again, if these were climate protestors, there'd have been multiple arrests, with some facing years in jail for "public nuisance". But farmers can block the road and drown out the Prime Minister and the police won't touch them. The real #TwoTierPolicing

6. I wasn't expecting much from this government. But I could scarcely have imagined that in some respects it would be worse than the Tories. Steve Reed? Therese Coffey? I'm struggling to spot the difference.

Labour's rivers policy is unbelievable. 1. Steve Reed, the Environment Secretary, has decided our rivers are insufficiently polluted with chicken shit, so he’s loosening the rules. Never mind that it's the primary cause of rivercide in the Welsh border region. www.theguardian.com/environment/... 🧵
