Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Today’s lunch for son. My older son lost 40+ pounds since last October when I started making him lunch and dinner. (we were doing a lot of Uber before) It’s not much less food. Not sure what it is. I guess fresh ingredients, portion control and avoiding foods he’s sensitive to 040
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 08/10/2026today, non-verbal son, for 1st time, independently walked over to ipad and pressed i love you. i would've cried except it was followed by "can i have Wahoo's banzai bowl" somethings going on in communication department but still intense food cravings. didnt like sound of meds offered, but studying. 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 05/10/2026What was interesting was stuff beyond the reading itself. 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I was reading about Mabel Lee, Chinese American suffragist in early 20th century with my younger son. She was educated as an economist and planned to return to China with some prospects but stayed for family. But she actually dodged a war and events leading up to Cultural Revolution. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Today, my older son, after eating a meal I cooked, walked over to iPad that was charging and pressed “I like it” and walked back to his seat. Most of his communication is requests, so I was so shocked. I’m very proud of a lot of work I did for him and younger son that only I know about. 130
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 04/10/2026There r large chunks of it that don’t get translated or don’t make sense but at least I get gist of what he’s saying 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 04/10/2026It’s amazing that I can watch a masterclass from Moscow with auto translate. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 02/10/2026🤣 you are so kind. he was incredibly charming and funny and encouraging. I remember that magical moment of being next to him in this beautiful hall with beautiful piano, him saying such poetic things, making unbelievably beautiful sounds on the piano. 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 02/10/2026One interesting thjng about him is that he was a cliburn winner in 70s then suddenly his travel visa was revoked for 13 years! He held a guest teaching position in Texas after. Masterclass felt like entering a different world 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 02/10/20268:07 is heaven. I met him when I was a college student. I was lucky enough to be in one of his master classes. He was kind and imaginative and unforgettable. Chain smoking at piano! I hope he quit. youtu.be/Bdzbhp0nm7w?...youtu.beCesar Franck - Prelude, Fugue et Variations, Op.18 (V. Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I think I'd pay premium for verified home chefs to make food on demand according to dietary restrictions. I don't have all the ingredients for vegan kimchi stew at 4AM, so I have to eat ramen. Someone told me yesterday that store bought soups are just as good as home cooked ones... 020
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Im seeing the payoff after an hour. Im hearing different things now And feeling where the fuzziness is. I know nobody cares about this lol. 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I think maybe recording quality is not good so it’s not rewarding. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I know slow practicing is good for me. I’m finding all sorts of weaknesses because I’m paying attention to one hand while other hand part is playing in unmuted tracks. But it’s hard and boring. Artist at masterclass says he loves practicing like this. It’s broccoli. Wax on wax off. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 29/09/2026That looks very impressive and much needed app. I can't wait to try it. 020
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I just read that defense is in plurality and I thought that it was a nice quote. 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I think it’s a tricky balance because we have limited energy. I think I’d tell my kid, do you feel like you can make mistakes and be given benefit of doubt. What conclusions do they come to about you with little or no information? You observe others and compare. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 29/09/2026What do you think good education is? What do you think young people should learn. Basic survival skills, ppl skills and points of view? Last is hard for some ppl but it’s important for so many reasons. They also need to be able to find good community of people. Also, how do u contribute towards one? 101
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 29/09/2026So many aspiring writers. Just credit them for fiction passages. 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Pet peeve - using old language texts in standardized tests because they are free. Oy. It's so difficult for people with language challenges. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I finished Natsuo Kirino’s book “Swallows” and couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s about a 29 year old temp worker in Japan who decides to become a surrogate mother out of financial necessity. I wrote a review. 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Hard part was lining up the tracks - there’s metronome count off but I used a recording as a model, didn’t want straight metronome sound. I’m sure there must be an easier way to do this 010
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I thought about what do people do when they’re practicing slowly? What exactly are we practicing. I think learning to relax in between the notes, practicing inflection and preparation of impulse toward the next note in your mind. Without it, it will be tight, uncontrolled. Also learning the motives. 010
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I recorded about half of the fugue with voices apart in different tracks with Logic Pro. I realized that the errors during performance always occur when third voice comes in. So I mute the other two voices and play the new voice. I am also practicing parts alone very slowly 240

Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Sometimes I dream about kind of life some people must have, like a uni professor of music in some city in Portugal. Monster talent but modest ambitions with eccentric tastes - still playing concerts in beautiful halls, laughing w friends, hanging out on beaches on weekends. Of course, idealized afar 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 25/09/2026You can tell I’ve tried to fit in a bit of my stats class 😂 It’s been impossible but I try. So fun. I love little bits of time I carve out for learning. I’m also going to create 4 part recording for my fugue for practice. Rebellion against kind of emaciated suffering I saw in a group decades ago 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 25/09/2026The more off the standard you are, the harder you have to work to get or provide what is needed. The responsibility is tremendous and messaging is one of personal responsibility for not fitting within the standard. One day, I wish I could fill in the specifics lol. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 24/09/2026What I mean is, for example - if I have a weird pain, i doubt that anyone would find the answer. There are incredible tools out there and discoveries, great docs but most ppl get a tiny snippet in tiny window. I have to research and advocate. Same w anything that doesn’t fit standard fit solution. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 24/09/2026We don’t know if this is a trajectory. But this path came after many months of difficulties with his health, and coordination w agencies. Countless hours of research, observations, denials, consultations. Across the board, I don’t think standard isolated thing will solve anything. And x 3. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 23/09/2026This wouldn’t register as anything without knowing the baseline and it might be just be start of observable momentum or not. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 23/09/2026We started a protocol for my older non verbal son about a month ago and this morning he asked for coffee and sand drank it like ahjussi and during lunch, wanted to watch kdrama with me narrating. He kept signing more when I asked him if he was done. Too early to call but this is new and amazing 140
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 22/09/2026There is something insidious about how we've gradually become brainwashed into thinking that only a select few deserve fully human lives 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 22/09/2026We have become spectators rather than players/doers at home. We consume more than do. Maybe the problem is that there are more demands and stressors on the individuals. And we’ve accepted the idea that we need be exceptional - that doing something at an ordinary level is beneath contempt. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Even in concerts, such as the one I attended last Sunday, where the artist has a connection with people and engages with people, personal connections really change the experience. I think that's how concerts were meant to be - smaller and with community engagement. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 22/09/2026There's something special about in person meetings with people who have common interest. I know a lot of meetings have moved online and it's just not the same. If you have some kind of connection (not necessarily to level of friendship), you are more likely to continue and to care. 110
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Funny part is that only someone my age (and no ego tied to result) would have gumption to ask a well-known guest artist "how do you practice a fugue for security during performance". It's like asking a scientist, how do you solve a problem. But got me thinking and I got something out of the answer 000
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 18/09/2026One thing that Im a bit bummed about is that my piano doesn’t have subtlety of action that allows really soft sound that the Steinway on stage does so it is very effortful to try to adjust on the spot. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I’m very proud of myself for being brave and learning from the opportunity. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 18/09/2026He had great musical instincts and when I listened back to recordings he was absolutely right about his comments. He made just the right comments for each performer. He is also a composer who will play his pieces in a concert on Sunday. I always enjoy composer performers. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I played in guest masterclass. Wasn’t signed up but volunteered when someone dropped. I fumbled fugue section but got really amazing comments. He even said “you are so good” which was so encouraging. he said fugue - practice very slowly savoring lines horizontally and vertically with finger legato 110

Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 17/09/2026i miss these nice human experts who cared and knew about so and so and such and such and worked with you through stages. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 17/09/2026i am grateful for the benefits of AI but what i dont enjoy is how some orgs are using it. Seems like they do like a sweep of low effort work per client producing a lot of low quality data for someone to examine at some point. Lots of activity without follow through on single thread. 100
Victoria Park @vicpark.bsky.social · 12/09/2026This extraordinary piece performed so beautifully brings up so many emotions to surface.
