And that isn't specific to art. AI will get better and threaten lots of jobs if we don't plan for it as a society and I don't see many good planners in the government

Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
And I think that is who AI art is for. But on the flip side. I think this discussion is really an economic discussion. From a artistic point of view why should artists even be upset? True art always has a unique perceptive. You can't replicate it. The real problem is economic

I am pretty sure he doesn't from talking to him. Some people are just shallow and basic. For them art would be easily replaceable by a machine. There are millions of people like that. Capitalism makes it so non creative people think they are consuming art instead of a cheap product

Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
This is exactly the point I'm making with you. It's not stealing because it's copying something shallow and derivative like you are. So of course you won't see the difference
000
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
All pop music is derivative and AI is too. But great art has deep human meaning that is difficult to replicate. People shouldn't fear that being replaced. It can't be. Making art is only about the money in capitalism
000
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
No, it's not that I don't like it. It's that it's inherently vapid and meaningless. I'm not using the word art for it to demonstrate the difference. AI can replicate it would be classified as art but it is cheap art. Of course AI can replicate that.

Then at that point we have reached something like AGI. The current state of art with AI is not very interesting at all. It is just a cheap representation of the human experience

Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
My point is people are making an artistic argument against AI art and I think that's disingenuous. They are really reacting to AI replacing their way to make money. They can still make great art on their own time, and if someone makes AI art one day that actually has cultural impact
100
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
To me this is strictly an economical issue. For instance if pop music is replaced by AI generated pop music. We haven't really lost anything culturally to me. Pop music was a product to buy and not art to begin with. I am not anti AI. I run local AI at home

Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I don't know if you are American but if you are that is probably why you feel this way. A lot of human made art has very little actual artistic value and makes millions of dollars in the West. I'm just saying art can't actually be made by something that cannot actually feel.
100
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I'm not. I think it's an important difference. It's what makes art art. AI will make commercial art with less emotional value to humans. What people are mad about is economic displacement, not that the machines are making art because it's an inherently lesser art to humans
100
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I work with AI and I am not extremely negative about AI but it's crazy for people like this to act like machine made art is equivalent. To be fair, so much art is vapid nonsense in America that for a lot of people AI art is no different from the art they consume
000
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I mean this in an artistic sense, not literally. I think this is what humanity will wrestle with culturally as AI art becomes the commercial standard and displaces artists commercially, but my point is that loads of art in capitalism has no real intrinsic value and that is what AI art will replace
100
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I do think the idea is more important but if the execution doesn't also come from your mind, it is hard for that "art" to have value. I am not a great writer though and I think I have good ideas so I could imagine AI bringing to life ideas that never would have been too
000
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I agree, or at least not art valuable to humans. It will displace a lot of artists that use their skills to make money in capitalism though so the distinction doesn't really matter

Trump is bad enough alone but the fact Democrats are going to use his presidency to try to insert middle of the road Democrats is what is really going to kill America long term. Corporations are raiding our pockets and AI will take jobs with Conservatives in charge of both parties

Yes! That's my point. The money and base of the Democratic party do not fit the needs of the population. If they did, they would beat Republicans in a landslide. What are you are describing is the process that is rigged towards party elites and packaging it like a fairy tale

No they don't. The voters pick from the candidates they are given.

None of this originates online. That's my point. You think your posting matters and it doesn't matter. If a candidate runs and loses and you post about whose fault it is, you are wasting your time.
110
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
And if they win then the issue wasn't a deal breaker to begin with. My point is just "the voters" aren't someone you can scold on Blue sky to support the candidates you want. The voters are the population you have to win over.
100
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Yes, that is what I'm saying. The party is picking the wrong candidates and sometimes it's pretty obvious that ideology matters more than winning for party leaders. If you run candidates that receive AIPAC funding and lose when that is unpopular then that is what happens when you do that

In America third party is just pointless because we only platform two parties. They need to change to ranked choice voting to make all parties viable. The current system favors Conservatism though and Democrats would rather a Republican win than someone who doesn't support Israel a lot of the time
100
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Right but the primaries aren't fair and balanced is my point. People should not blame voters. The party is funding and promoting the politicians that lose. Blaming voters is pointless. The politicians who win in landslides are doing it without big party money.

100
Ross & The Quinby's 🎳 @vicnobu.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
No, not at all because we live in a two party system and the party heavily financially back the candidates they want and then when they lose in the general they use the news to try to shame voters. They can do that, but it's not going to change the results much like people wasting their time on here
