Ahh yeah, I saw that one. My guess is they're saying AI didn't do any of the actual modeling in Blender or elsewhere, which would be hard to verify either way... but DLSS 5 looks like ass, why would anyone use it to misrepresent a mod as if that's a good thing? 💀

"Invisible skin" mods. You can spawn another actor (a double of your character, or whatever else you need) and apply a mod collection to them that has the invisible skin enabled, and it leaves just the gear visible. :)

I know I'm late to the party, but: if a plugin claims "An independent cryptographer is reviewing it before any public launch" then launches publicly and gets advertised in a major mod server *without* any proof of that review, I would suggest you regard it with a modicum of scrutiny.

My personal theory is that the culture around it - primarily modding - is a *huge* factor, but I know its structure as "an RPG with MMO elements" rather than a traditional MMORPG is also playing a part, along with it being Final Fantasy.

I've seen a lot lately reinforcing the idea that a significant portion of the FFXIV player base had minimal (or zero) MMO experience before playing it. This isn't a value judgment at all, but it's interesting to me that the game pulls so many into a genre with which they wouldn't otherwise engage.

It feels very much like a "break glass in case of emergency" move for many reasons including falling player count, wanting to combat mod usage, etc. Another good reason is that WoW's next expansion is making some great transmog QoL changes so reducing glam restrictions helps them remain competitive.

Has anyone making XIV mods figure out a good upscaling workflow for textures? Ever since the Dawntrail updates my chaiNNer setup stopped playing nice with them and things break (other than the diffuse which is fine). I would just like to make some bits and pieces nice and high-res for screenshots. 😭

It's curious seeing people very loudly proclaiming their support for a character race to counteract community prejudice while excluding other races from that same support entirely. No one is obligated to share anything in particular, of course, but it does feel... odd, to say the least.
