Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 13hBumping my post from last month. The lesson, as always, is that #MNUFC is cheap. bsky.app/profile/vets... 010
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I’m pretty sure you he NFL would call what Jonathan David just did to Austin Trusty “targeting.” I’ve seen safties get tossed and get extra games tacked on for that. CONCACAF, though, so just a yellow. #USMNT 000
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 06/10/2026At this point nothing she does screams competence, so having her yard sign in the shape of North Dakota is definitely on brand. 010
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 04/10/2026That’s what I expect from a Rafa Marquez coached El Tri! Bring it! #USMNT 020
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 04/10/2026It is nothing short of outstanding that Rafa Marquez is now Mexico’s manager. At some point he’s going impale a 4th official with a borrowed pair of boots and it will be awesome. #USMNT 000
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 29/09/2026As somebody whose HS soccer team has played about 7 different opponents this year with the nickname "Hawks," I almost understand the error. Almost. 001
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I've been saying this for years now but the MLS website is nothing but a propaganda board for Messi. "Great free kick! (try not to notice they lost 2-1)" How this league expects to be taken seriously when it gives two shits about the actual competition is beyond me. 152
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 27/09/2026May God send Malone back to Austria. No, wait, send him to Australia. No, Antarctica. Never let him touch a soccer ball again. Henceforth nobody is allowed to refer to him as a “striker” or “forward.” Persona non grata. #MNUFC 141
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Every time Jefferson Diaz makes a boneheaded defensive play the last 4 weeks I am reminded that we just signed him to a contract extension. #MNUFC 010
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 27/09/2026It is pretty remarkable how much #MNUFC has given up on this season. Like even the 0-16 Detroit Lions looked like they cared more. 180
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026While I grant a win at OT after the break seems like a longshot at this point, 3 points there and another 3 home to Coventry would seat us 11th. English media is obsessed with table position, even 5 matches into a 38-match schedule. It's just weird. 030
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026What would be really ideal, though, is a vetting process that ensures the referee knows the damn rules in the first place, La Liga. /end 000
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Public humiliation isn't necessary. Ref Pro pulling the VAR for his error in the Manchester derby is the needed accountability, but all I ask is the guy disappear for a month or two and not screw up again. It's like Pushing Tin... you only get One Thing (deep cut there for those who know). 101
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I don't think refs should be excommunicated for errors, but sidelining them for a period to make it clear that not knowing the rules or missing judgment decisions that seem blatantly obvious to everybody would add a sense of internal accountability that, frankly, clearly does not exist. 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026The fact of the matter is that there are probably too many apologists for subpar officiating performances at the highest level of the game. There should be larger pools of officials and clear expectations for performance. The larger pool allows for replacement when these kids of errors happen. 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026There is a real consequence is reducing expectations and competency to fill spots (see: ICE staffing). If La Liga can put a guy out on the field who doesn't know Law 12 inside and out, why should we be surprised that apparently obvious judgment calls (Chancalay) are missed elsewhere? 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026But misinterpretation of the Laws should NEVER happen at the first division level. There's something wrong with the vetting process if an official can't get this Madrid derby play right in real time. 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I think the people who run ref organizations make a lot of apologies for referees, and many are justified: speed of play has increased, dark arts have expanded, etc. It's hard to keep up, and judgment errors can happen. The miss on Lozano's rubgy take-down of Chancalay last night as an example. 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I give two shits about the fact that they got it right in the end. If you are going to claim one of the 20 spots as a referee in La Liga, don't you think, I dunno, those 20 guys would know the Laws inside and out? 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Here's my point: La Liga Primera is justifiably argued as one of the top two (if not the top) football league in the world. La Liga refs are full-time pros. How in God's name does a referee get one of the coveted 20 referee slots and NOT KNOW THE DOGSO CLAUSE?!?!? 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026PbP guy Ian Darke tries to let the ref off by saying he "must have thought Huijsen is trying to head the ball." Whatever man. He's giving a penalty because he sees Huijsen grab Simeone on the arm. The entire Atleti bench was livid a straight red wasn't given in the first place. 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026VAR jumped in and made sure the referee issued a red card, which, hooray for VAR? I have said from the get-go that I think referees are going to use VAR as a crutch to make cowardly decisions on the field and then use VAR to bail themselves out. Case in point. 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026The limited caution for DOGSO was introduced in 2016, mind you. It's been around for 10 YEARS. DOGSO penalty kicks are only downgraded if the defender is attempting to play the ball. The original introduction of DOGSO-yellow explicitly noted "holding" was still a red card. That has not changed. 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Atlei played a ball over the top and Huijsen grabbed Simeone's arm and dragged him down as the last defender, in the penalty area so a penalty was awarded. Inexplicably, the referee issued Huijsen a yellow. 100
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Haven't had a good ref rant for a while because I have been so annoyed with #COYS and #MNUFC and the disaster that is both's roster building, but happened to be watching the Madrid debry this AM on the treadmill and saw Dean Huijsen's sending off. The whole sequence pissed me off. 110
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 20/09/2026That’s 17 goals allowed in the last 5 games for #MNUFC, 3.4 goals allowed per game, a season pace of 115. 140
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Worst possible start to the weekend, my timeline is now going to be filled with #COYS trying to feel better by trolling Arsenal and Gooners trolling Spurs supporters, when in truth people should just stick to bitching about their own teams. 040
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 19/09/2026I love this final score because the utterly pathetic defensive effort on Villa’s last 2 goals are the reason #COYS took no points. Like if the losers on the field had made an ounce of effort for 15 minutes we’d be talking about the spirited fightback instead. 010
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 19/09/2026It is completely fair to say Kudus’ performance today has been the absolute worst effort I have seen from a #COYS player in the last 3 years, and considering those last 3 years that is truly remarkable. 000
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Oddly glad that got chalked off because honestly Kudus has been utter rubbish since coming on. He has been terrible. #COYS 010
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 19/09/2026It’s perfect that Mings leads with an elbow to Micky’s face, opening up a cut and forcing Micky off, so Villa can score a goal by feeding a pass into the Micky-sized hole in the middle of #COYS defense. 000
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I'm sorry, it is ridiculously frustrating to see a team in a similar-sized market show clear ambition, while #MNUFC just picks its ass, always promising they are building towards the "next transfer window" and then signing a bunch of longshots that nobody else has heard of. 241
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Amusingly one would expect that Bari White signed off on this caption because that plane ain't damaged... it's never flying again. 000
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 15/09/2026A result in this tie was always going to be a really tall ask. The entire exercise was to work on the stagnance on offense. There has been notable improvement. On to Saturday. 000
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I mean, it goes without saying, but Kerkez kicked through Marmoush's foot to push the ball away and no penalty given to #COYS. I mean, I don't have a lot of vested interest in #COYS winning because I already wrote this match off, but PGMOL remains committed to the bit. Very impressive. 010
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 13/09/2026The amusing thing about that penalty is Yeboah has been fouled much more obviously and much harder like a dozen times in his #MNUFC career and a penalty has not been given. 140
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Since Leagues Cup ended #MNUFC has given up 17 goals in 5 1/2 games. Last year they gave up 39 goals all season. For comparison, the defensive pace over the last 5.5 games would yield 106 GA for the season. The league record is 78. 0102
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I hope you are right because most of the time if you blow clode to half a billion on new players one would think at least one goal in the first four games would be the bare minimum. 110
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 12/09/2026It is truly remarkable how many times #COYS players missed slip passes and channel runs today. It's like they have some mindset that the ball has to go in a certain pattern and have no ability to be creative or look for holes in the defense. 220
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Archie Gray has made 5-6 outstanding runs and his teammates have picked him out… once. None of this is on RDZ. The players are not playing with any vision or imagination. #COYS 000
Vetshak @vetshak.bsky.social · 11/09/2026All due seriousness, the once-upon-excitement about this GAM stash that we all thought would help the team add depth and payroll has been offset by the fact that GAM is not real actual money and the team still has to pay the salary of the player GAM is used for, and we are, in fact, cheap. 020
