So, like, for Ria and Astarion, sure they could both conceivably go find someone else. They're not *gonna* because they're *happy.* But someone does not have to be the only possible source of romantic happiness for that relationship to be meaningful or fulfilling.

Tav is in the right place at the right time. The difference between them and Sebastian is time and freedom. And furthermore, I don't think Astarion is The Only One Who Could Ever Complete an Astarionmancing Tav. There are other pretty, sarcastic, etc etc etc people out there. Timing and choice.

And finally because it misses the way autonomy drives Astarion's arc. He opens up to Tav because he *can.* Yes, because they prove he can trust them, but he actually has the option to do that now. He has control over his life, to some extent. They can interact as people, not as spawn and mark.

Do you have any headcanons for your characters regarding tails? Do they have any unique habits? #tavqotd Echo moves their tail a *lot* more than they used to before taking 5 points of dexterity damage from Orin stabbing them in the brain. It's how they maintain their balance.

#durgeqotd #TavQotd What scares your Durge more: losing their partner or being seen fully by them? Echo is more afraid of losing Astarion where that means killing him. They wouldn't blame him for leaving, and him choosing to stay without knowing what he's choosing means nothing

I don't play 'put all our Tavs at the campfire' largely because Ria was not created to bond quickly to anyone who crossed her path. Even if I think your Tav is cool, Ria's simply not a very emotionally open person.

#TavQotD Does your original character open up to people? Or are they extremely guarded? Ria doesn't so much have emotional walls as an emotional labyrinth. She opened up to Astarion and Shadowheart, and she loves Wyll and Karlach. Opening up to the others took a long, long time.

#TavQotD how does your Tav/Durge flirt? Ria's inclined to light teasing ("You're sweet. And sillier than I thought.") which is part of why she and Astarion get along so well. She wants the conversation to feel like playing or dancing and wants a partner who keeps up.

#tavqotd What is your Tav's background? How did you choose it? Ria has the Entertainer background. I liked the vibe of a traveling musician/etc and how it fit with the slick social maneuvering I wanted her able to perform. Also, the inspiration events are largely perfect for her.
