Anyone want some new fonts, pre-release, a few days early?
The bright orange cover of the specimen PDF for Gagneur, a new French-flavoured typeface. It says, in French: “Ni Garamond, ni Haultin. Ni Granjon non plus. Ni Jannon & ni Le Bé non plus. Mais ceci… c’est Gagneur.”

You know what’s up.
Your beloved author, Robin, holding the Oscar for Sentimental Value. She looks entertained but in a shrugging manner.

I’ve posted my year in review to my blog. In even shorter: it’s been good! me.rbmntjs.nl/2025/what-a-...
The Tintin “what a week huh” meme but it’s me and my partner. I say “what a year huh” and she responds “Robin, it’s only December 31st!”

Another peek: the opening paragraph.
A large union of nations came together to prepare for the worst: in forty years, an asteroid may destroy all life on Earth. A smaller set of nations did not participate in this preparation: for each their own reasons, their populations voted against the tremendous investments that would be required to, in whatever way possible, avert or somehow mitigate disaster. But that’s politics, and politics are strange, absolute in their application but fuzzy and subjective and ever changing until they suddenly become applied. Here were the facts, however unclear some of them may have been: an asteroid had a chance of impacting Earth, in approximately forty years. Its composition had left astronomers unsure, with some wondering if it may in fact dissolve well before it reaches our solar system. Its path had been a surprise, which explains its late discovery, and this had made our scientists wonder whether its trajectory could change yet again. The likelihood of a collision had kept changing for years, from possibly to likely. The likelihood of that possible or likely collision devastating all life on Earth had varied from likely to absolutely. With these facts, perhaps we didn’t need scientists but philosophers. But that’s not how policy typically gets made.

Later today!
Robin makes air quotes with her fingers and the word ‘nOrMaL’ is superimposed. She’s wearing a red sweater, with her hair up. It’s from an upcoming video essay.
