On the basis that I was a kid who loved Starsky & Hutch at the time, it was David Soul’s Silver Lady in 1977. Definitely no cred.

It was indeed. Stickers that went straight on my 7 year old skin, and that removed some of it taking them off. (Prog 2 with the stickers is crazy money these days because it was also the first appearance of Dredd. Which is why I don’t have it…)

Why settle for a plastic plane when you could have a plastic Space Spinner?

Unfortunately, this question can be applied to so, so many things that have resurfaced in the last 15 - 20 years.

Pretty sure at this point he’s just the kid from that Twilight Zone episode.

Just watched (and enjoyed) the final episode - very much a series finale than a season finale, with only one slender, slender thread should they wish to pick it up ever again.

What if there’s an amount if money that just turns you into an arsehole though? Or do you have to be an arsehole in the first place to make a £billion?

Also, the ‘put a banana next to an avocado to make it ripen faster’ trick results only in a rotten banana and an avocado that’s still hard as a rock.

I was almost evangelical about how much I enjoyed seasons 1 to 3. The balance of serious/silly sci-fi seemed just right. This season had been just silly self indulgence for maybe 7 out of 10 episodes. I mean, it’s only telly but still a huge disappointment.

Fairly confident that in a month her book will still weigh 503 grams in the bargain bin of The Works.

There was a rumour at the time that the Traveling Wilburys planned to do a pub tour in the UK. It was doubtless absolute bollocks (plus, Roy Orbison died) but ever since I’ve always loved the thought of going for a pint and finding Harrison, Orbison, Dylan, Petty and Lynne setting up in the corner.

Possibly my favourite trilogy. I don’t know if I was just in a bad mood at the time, but I *hated* part 2 until I saw part 3 a year later and realised actually, I loved part 2.

So, given net immigration is down, we can comfortably assume that’s the lie he’s using to cover his actual problem which is being a whiny little rich twat who doesn’t want to pay tax.

The pedigree of writers on it is a bit of a giveaway. Someone - I think gralefrit.bskyb.social - called it “comedy software running on drama hardware” which seems the best description.

Suddenly reminded of Queen playing Sun City in 1984 because they weren’t a ‘political’ band.
Text from Guardian article about Queen playing Sun City in South Africa, 1984:

We've thought a lot about the morals of it a lot," claimed Brian May at the time, long alleged to be one of the cleverest men in rock, "and it is something we've decided to do. The band is not political - we play to anybody who wants to come and listen." "Throughout our career we've been a very non-political group," said bassist John Deacon (aka The Other One). "We enjoy going to new places. We've toured America and Europe so many times that it's nice to go somewhere different ... I know there can be a bit of fuss, but apparently we're very popular down there ... Basically, we want to play wherever fans want to see us."

Quick example from today: I went to put something in the bin. I was wearing a black t-shirt. My car, stationary on the driveway, is blue. Ring AI - “A green car is reversing from your property”

“Look, I know I drove that sports car into the shopping mall, I know that I did a *lot* of damage, and I know that a lot of people got hurt. But I’m just saying that out of control sports cars in shopping malls is a reality now, so maybe we, as a society, should just slow things down a bit?”

1995ish. Hyde Park, Prince’s Trust concert. We’d had a brilliant time as The Who performed Quadrophenia, encoring with a reprise of 5.15. Exhilarating. Clapton’s turn. Opens with acoustic version of Layla. Even the die hard Clapton fan in front shouted “TURN IT UP ERIC!” So we went to Pizza Hut.

My Ring doorbell has an unwanted free trial of their new AI features, which describe what it sees. It’s now ending, with continuous email asking me to pay money to keep it. It is *laughably* bad. Either utterly wrong or so general as to be of zero use. Also, I CAN SEE WHO IS AT THE DOOR ANYWAY!

“The donation is so Reform are on a level playing field” said the billionaire as he put his thumb on the scale. I’m so sick of this. Watching fascism bloom in real time. Watching my government do nothing to combat it.

Yup, I know it’s against the rules, but I figured people would try it anyway. In any case, the rules/you are doing a bang up job of keeping the image challenge human-led. Cheers.

Does B3TA get many slop submissions for the image challenge? I've never seen one slip through so it's either 'no', or you're a fucking good filter.

This is where Apple got it right with Slow Horses - each season has a self contained main story that plays out, *plus* regular seasons no more than a year apart (in fact 1 and 2 were about 6 months apart) You know. Like regular telly.

I was singing its praises the first 3 seasons. I thought the balance of serious and silly was o fairly balanced but it just seems to be silly gimmick episodes this season. Had to turn off the new one and I’ll go back to it later.

Hell of a way to say “the studio deadlines after they binned the whole Kang thing were impossible, so we thought we’d just wing it”

Dan Shires @vertigowooyay.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
Part of the visibility issue is that they only had $10 million to spend on promotion and marketing, a fraction of what a big studio has for any new release - so it has to rely on word of mouth to a large extent. Which makes the fact it’s on $115 million after 2 weeks more surprising
