Operation "Ugly" has been a success. Experimenting with making her less "cute". I need her to suffer. Some details I'm probably gonna clean up on this new design but otherwise I really like going this direction with her. (also wow i havent drawn her in years lol)

TLDR; I need to ACTUALLY focus on worldbuilding instead of making characters interact "because". I'm finally trying to give these characters purpose and that might end up redoing their characterization pretty heavily. Here are my priorities for what I call "NEW CRYSTALA".

rough pizzasona sprite just for fun (don't take this too seriously, i'd probably clean up some of the weird things if i wanted to do more with this)

my sona in the "pizza tower artstyle" which is shorthand for "artstyle i have no prior experience with mimicking so it's really just my sona in the same scale and color palette if we're being real here but i thought it was fun to make anyway"

slight sona redesign :P! my goal here was to simplify things and make ambiguous details more obvious. as well as drawing at a much smaller scale for consistency with my other characters. i think i did good!!!! doesn't stray too far from the original.

I've been wanting to redo Monoko's main art for at least a year and a half by now, but it's always been so difficult for me to draw. Well, I finally got the drive to actually commit to it, and I'm pretty happy with it. I decided to actually draw a non-Mantle version as well.

a friend made a sprite for this in the deltarune artstyle (which i love) and it inspired me to change it to be closer to their interpretation. i decided on the color palette and lack of fuzziness (both aspects actually predate this unique design by a couple months)
