When sexual violence makes headlines, prevention must be part of the conversation. It's easy to condemn harm, but changing policy, supporting healthy communities, and investing in initiatives that stop it from occurring are what we need to prevent it. ➡️ loom.ly/ncylbH8

The Crime Victims Fund is dangerously low, putting lifesaving victim services at risk nationwide. @LeaderJohnThune, @SenSchumer, @ChuckGrassley, @SenatorDurbin, @alex padilla, and @senadamschiff must act now to pass the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (#CVFSA)!
THE SENATE MUST PASS THE CRIME VICTIMS FUND STABILIZATION ACT
The House passed the bipartisan Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act in January, with 320+ bipartisan co-sponsors. It's time for the Senate to act!
September 23 National Day of ActionCALL 202-224-3121 AND ASK TO BE CONNECTED TO YOUR SENATOR'S OFFICE. TELL THEM: "Hello, I'm a constituent from [city, state]. I'm calling to urge [Senator's Name] to follow the House's lead and pass this bipartisan Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act. The Crime Victims Fund provides critical funding for services supporting more than six million crime victims each year, including survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. With deposits into the Fund declining, victim service programs are facing significant funding cuts that put critical services at risk. The Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act offers a bipartisan, common-sense solution using non-taxpayer dollars. I urge [Senator's Name] to support and pass this legislation as soon as possible. Thank you."

Protecting incarcerated survivors seeking accountability, justice, and healing unanimously passed the California legislature. @governor.ca.gov, we call on you to listen to Californians: sign #AB464 (Aguiar-Curry) into law and make healing safely for incarcerated survivors a reality.
Bi-Partisan Legislation Centered on Protections for Incarcerated Survivors Passes California Legislature. “Survivors of sexual assault while incarcerated should be able to report harm and heal on their own terms without fearing retaliation by prison staff. All people deserve to live without the threat of violence, and all survivors deserve to heal after harm. Incarcerated people experiencing sexual violence is preventable, not inevitable, and we have the ability to implement strong policies to make that a reality. Statement ➡️ loom.ly/sQto2lQ
“No one deserves to experience sexual violence and those that do, should be able to heal on their terms, not be forced to stay in the same conditions in which they were harmed. Take action today: Call your U.S. Representative & tell them to oppose the consolidation & protect OVW & survivors nationwide! Congressional Switchboard: 202-224-3121 Read and share the full NTF statement ➡️ loom.ly/DX7tVuc #ProtectOVW #SupportSurvivors #DomesticViolence #SexualAssault
Protect the Office on Violence Against Women. The Department of Justice is threatening survivor services and public safety by weakening the federal response to domestic violence and sexual assault. Take action.Congress and communities created the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) to provide grant funds and lead policy efforts to hold abusers accountable and support survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and dating violence. But the DOJ is trying to bury OVW in a larger bureau, weakening its role in leading the national response to these forms of violence. What will it lead to?Placing OVW inside a larger DOJ bureau could delay funding resources to communities and make it easier for domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking to be overshadowed by other DOJ priorities. Survivors cannot afford for their safety to become just one priority among many. Congress requires OVW to remain a separate office for a reason: survivors and communities need dedicated leadership and reliable funding. The DOJ says survivors and the domestic violence field want this change. That could not be further from the truth. The National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence, along with other national and Tribal organizations, state coalitions, local service providers, advocates, and survivors across the country strongly oppose this proposal. Survivors must not be used to justify dismantling the independent office created to serve them.

The DOJ's plan to consolidate OVW, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), & the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) into a single grantmaking bureau would weaken survivors' ability to heal after harm. Congress needs to hear directly from the communities these grants support.

The Proposed Rule Change Threatens the Lives of Survivors, Families, & Communities. It grants the executive branch seemingly unlimited discretion over federal grants. It bases funding awards on ideology, not community needs, targeting immigrants, LGBTQ+ folks, and “DEI” initiatives. Rape crisis centers and programs that support survivors will be deterred from applying for federal grants and programs, leading to decreased funding, and more.

ValorUS® @valor.us · 10/07/2026
Violence doesn't discriminate. The life-saving programs survivors depend on shouldn't either. OMB's proposed rule will allow fed agencies the ability to determine fed funding awards based on ideology, not community needs or congressional allocations.

For survivors, safe housing is often the difference between safety and continued harm. LGBTQ+ survivors already experience disproportionately high rates of violence and housing instability. We cannot solve homelessness or support survivors by creating more barriers to shelter.
