This place is bloody terrifying. I STILL don't know what it does, or did, precisely, but there's NOBODY THERE. Just endless corridors of Space Odyssey little old man/monolith vibes.

Voguing in the Department of Lands.
Spindly git in a black coat holds awkward mantis-like pose in a long white corridor with chequered black and white tiles and general 2001 Beyond Jupiter vibe.

<Herzog Voice> Mucilaginous cubes of torment. Glistening colours, but of a preschool whose walls are daubed with despair. Why so acrid? How can a benevolent god so deform a thing of nature, the root crop, into this abysmal being? </Herzog Voice>

Alas! I have, unusually and annoyingly, a ZOOM meeting with someone in London this evening, so cannot go out shindigging. Please email me next time you're headed to this pastel-hued monstrosity! I am AWFUL at keeping tabs on socials, and I exceedingly wish to meet you. Also I know good wine bars.

@causticcovercritic.bsky.social Ahoy there! This app apparently thinks I'm a child (which I am, but only emotionally) and won't let me access DMs. Did you do this age verification malarkey? How can I tell it I'm a withering husk?

How to market your work
In 1930 the poet and classicist A. E. Housman published the final volume of his edition of an obscure astrological poem by the Roman author Manilius. He had labored on the project for al-most thirty years. All five of its volumes, he wrote, "were produced at my own expense and offered to the public at much less than cost price; but this unscrupulous artifice did not overcome the natural disrelish of mankind for the combination of a tedious author with an odious editor."

Another of Ruby's paintings - "The Music Room" (Oil, 61 x 61 cm). Many of her works feature rooms impetuously abandoned by someone mid-work, and I find that slightly unsettling and very charming, and possibly worthy of psychological investigation. #art #painting www.instagram.com/p/C2N2wCXh1A...

My excellent idea is to have a late afternoon coffee instead of a snack because dinner will happen in the next two hours & I’d rather not spoil it & want, instead, to live in hell & feel my teeth grow new nerves & experience a deep interior trembling that resembles panic until then.

Barnard 175, a dense cloud of interstellar dust. It's 1400 light-years away in the constellation of Cepehus and is part of the much larger molecular cloud complex known as the Cepheus Flare. The illuminated region is the reflection nebula VdB 152. About 7 hours total integration over two nights. 🔭
A dense starfield, with several predominantly bright blue stars. There is an especially bright blue star with 4 large diffraction spikes in the lower right side of the image. In the center is a dimmer blue star. Behind the star is a dense cloud of dark dust that extends all the way up to the top of the image, somewhat like a vast plume of smoke. The cloud obscures the stars behind it and visibly reddens them. The blue star in the center is illuminating a patch of the cloud near its tip, creating a small blue reflection nebula.

Delightful people with amazing nails finding my wretched little book at obscure libraries is the only thing distracting me from the rampant horrors of the world. Apparently there are THREE copies at San Francisco Public Library (for whatever irrational reason). Thank you, kind and unusual librarian!

Watching Withnail for the hundredth time. There’s something eternally poignant and relatable about a flailing wet thespian with plastic bags on his feet trapped in a liminal landscape. #📽️Film
A frightening and luridly-coloured ink scribble of Withnail giving a frozen, ghastly smile, with the words "I don't know that my acquaintance did to upset you, but it's nothing to do with me".

Read this (FOURTEEN WAYS OF LOOKING by @erinvincent.bsky.social) in one sitting last night. Absolutely tremendous book. Invents a new genre (biblionumeromancy?) while powerfully investigating grief and randomness and weird resonances across art and life. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
