I'm updating a laptop that's been unused since 2019. Windows updater keeps getting stuck, basically how its going:

Prototyped a leaf blower tool for my game Stacked some empty beer cans in the editor to blow around for fun Spent 2 hours trying to figure out why half of the beeryramid kept collapsing on start Realised the leaf blower was active by default, on the ground, a touch too close to one corner 🫠

Thought that would be an improvement, maybe they know what they are doing. Nope. It is literally holding 80k of maccas points hostage, the sign-in link emails are delayed by 3 hours, by then the link expires. I can't get into the account. And charging me $60AUD per year for the privilege

Was. That ISP is now in the centre of a russian doll of acquisitions over 2 decades. Each company caring a little bit less until they just gave up and sold the email customer base off to a tiny outfit who would just focus on email services.

word of advice never ever ever ever rely on an email account from your ISP omg I have an email account with a defunct ISP my dad made for me 25 years ago. It became my go to email cause it looked semi professional and was pretty reliable.

an attempt to dig my way out of my #gamedev rut by modelling a tractor. I spent hours working through tedious problems that were probably my fault to begin with, maybe I can use the tractor to tow myself out of the rut now, but it looks kinda neat now I think

And the point I wanted to get to is, if this at all sounds applicable, you should get out there! Find a local group or if it doesn't exist make one! I started just by booking a room at the local library and advertising on local neighbourhood FB groups, and it's only up from here!

I think the day to day of it can be quite isolating so knowing that there's like minded people right in your own backyard can mean a lot. For some, it's the first time they've even shown their projects to anyone else

After every meetup seeing everyone's cool stuff, I leave inspired and motivated to work on my own projects, which has been great cause I've been stuck in a bit of a rut lately. It's great for game devs to be a part of some sort of community especially if you're not "in the industry",

Today was the 3rd monthly meetup for the local #gamedev group I started, its been a lot of fun Being not in the city I didn't know if there was any interest but there's been a great turnout of people who are all passionate about game making, sharing our projects, stories and helping each other.

I went to a weird little store in a town halfway to the middle of nowhere and found this weird little handmade embroidered patch I have a pair of jeans with a hole in them, this will be perfect
