Chart showing total gross fixed capital formation as a proportion of GDP: advanced OECD economies and G7, 1995 to 2022. It is only relatively recently that the UK has surpassed the public investment levels of even low investors such as Germany and Italy.

Fact: Migrants have an average positive impact on the economy. Cutting immigration is costly. It will make it *harder* to revert austerity, create growth, and reduce inequality. Wasn’t that the government’s goal? Starmer’s new rhetoric is based on lies. Excellent explainer here :
