Hera's made a few updates to this statement. We're keeping in touch with them as this progresses.

Trans Harm Reduction's latest test set showed that at least one batch in May from Hera HRT was at half the advertised concentration. Hera have posted an update on their website indicating they're aware of it and looking into it.

Not that you need to justify why AI political writing is bad on this side of Bluesky, but Orwell wrote everything that needs said 80 years ago. These are long paragraphs with lots of em dashes though so maybe he used Claude too. bioinfo.uib.es/~joemiro/Rec...
The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one’s real and one’s declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish spurting out ink. In our age there is no such thing as “keeping out of politics.” All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred, and schizophrenia. When the general atmosphere is bad, language must suffer. I should expect to find —this is a guess which I have not sufficient knowledge to verify— that the German, Russian and Italian languages have all deteriorated in the last ten or fifteen years, as a result of dictatorship. But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought. A bad usage can spread by tradition and imitation even among people who should and do know better. The debased language that I have been discussing is in some ways very convenient. Phrases like a not unjustifiable assumption, leaves much to be desired, would serve no good purpose, a consideration which we should do well to bear in mind, are a continuous temptation, a packet of aspirins always at one’s elbow. Look back through this essay, and for certain you will find that I have again and again committed the very faults I am protesting against. By this morning’s post I have received a pamphlet dealing with conditions in Germany. The author tells me that he "felt impelled" to write it. I open it at random, and here is almost the first sentence I see: "[The Allies] have an opportunity not only of achieving a radical transformation of Germany’s social and political structure in such a way as to avoid a nationalistic reaction in Germany itself, but at the same time of laying the foundations of a co-operative and unified Europe." You see, he “feels impelled” to write —feels, presumably, that he has something new to say— and yet his words, like cavalry horses answering the bugle, group themselves automatically into the familiar dreary pattern. This invasion of one’s mind by ready-made phrases (lay the foundations, achieve a radical transformation) can only be prevented if one is constantly on guard against them, and every such phrase anaesthetizes a portion of one’s brain.

Astrovials site is now back with a new landing page saying they'll be back open soon. They've updated their warrant canary with this statement and we've verified the cryptographic signature. astrovials.com/canary.txt We've set them to closed on the site with a note showing this information.

Nah, it's not due for renewal until next year. Usually that gets the autoRenew flag as a grace period. Suspended domains usually get clientHold. Those 2 it has now are normal.

H1 2025: "Generics at around 70% of our sales ensures continuous scale in the market with limited capital deployment and generation of significant cash flows" Folks, in plain English, that sentence means "we make shitloads of money without having to invest a lot".

Late last year the FDA finally removed the black box warnings from HRT and that seems to have been the tipping point for demand over in the US. "When the FDA removed the safety warning in November, it created unprecedented demand that cannot fully be met at present"

As this broader awareness of HRT spread globally, we started to see similar shortages in the US, Australia and Canada over the following years. Meanwhile Novartis spun off Estradot into a new generics company Sandoz, who've seen their stock price and revenue explode.

So it ended up just shifting in the same direction trans healthcare has: those who can pay get milked, and those can't can get fucked. This piece from in The Guardian, ironically from a prominent gender crit, is a great expose on the desperation and profiteering. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

It was such mainstream news that government ministers were getting doorstepped about it. Amusingly, this being right when the current trans panic started, the media even took a swing at blaming us for it.

Naturally once COVID started to die down, women went to their doctors in droves looking for prescriptions, and this lead to a sudden surge in demand. We contacted Novartis regarding a specific shortage in the UK and got this response (paraphrased for privacy)
1. Has supply dropped or demand risen unexpectedly on Novartis's end for Estradot transdermal patches? The transdermal segment has expanded by close to 50% per year over the past three years. Other HRT forms have grown as well, though not to the same extent as the transdermal category. Our product has seen demand climb at a similar rate.

2. If so, can you explain what you believe drove these problems? There has been growing awareness around HRT, along with considerable media coverage of menopause in general.

3. If so, what is Novartis doing to address this, and can you give a timeframe for when supply might return to normal? We're looking into expanding manufacturing capacity, but that's a major long-term commitment. Our stock levels for 2022 sit 88% above 2021, and we've planned for them to rise a further 216% from current levels by 2025.

Patients and customers come first for us, and we aim to ensure fair and equitable access to our medicines across both the public and private markets - for anyone who needs them, wherever they are and whatever their background.

Hey there's someone impersonating us and attempting to scam folks over on Tumblr. This is not us, Bluesky is our only active social media channel. We do not sell anything ourselves, and we do not solicit sales on social media. If you have a Tumblr account please go ahead and report them.

And it's always this. In a legal system where truth is not a defense and rights only exist post-facto if you the money to defend them, the interests of the rich and powerful will always win.

You don't just need them to stop calling you a baddie, you need them grovelling at your feet for even suggesting you weren't a goodie. First they're wrong, then they've offended you, then they've lied, then they're the baddies who need to atone.

The reason this report is such a problem for them is that unlike the US where you can openly yap about "groomers" and "transgender for everyone" and have half the electorate clap like seals, the UK anti-trans movement has been a slow simmer of "reasonable concerns".
122328 223
Valerie.vg @valerie.vg · 01/08/2026
The report isn't specifically about trans rights, they're not even the main focus. It's just a broad warning of like "hey, funding for these groups is way up, pay attention". Gender critical groups are flagged as a notable area of growth, but the clear focus is abortion.

Amnesty are not the first group to do this. In 2024, UN Women put out a pride month announcement specifically calling out the "gender-critical" movement as an anti-rights movement. www.erininthemorning.com/p/un-women-c...

It's basically an inversion of the old Twitter joke. If you create a "Waffles rights organisation" and then all you do with it is keep talking about the danger of "pro-pancake ideology", it's pretty obvious what you're doing. Amnesty uses the term "anti-rights actors" to describe them.
130047 300
Valerie.vg @valerie.vg · 01/08/2026
So the key findings of Amnesty's report was that these anti-rights groups have massive funding, that it comes largely from far-right christian groups in the US, and that they're abusing UK charity law to misrepresent themselves as pro-rights organisations.

The haters are usually just people with HRT as a hyperfixation getting frustrated that you have a platform and they don't. They grow out of it pretty quick but there's always new people cycling into it.
