How much should we worry about the value of more independent expert opinions decreasing with the increasing use of AI which makes everyone's information more correlated? Is this going to mark the end of Reviewer 2? 🥲 🙃

And the implication for lecturers who want to best respond to this strategy is to tell students to expect a test at random dates. I bet they'll love that 🤓

Why incentive-compatibility isn't enough for data quality: Our new online experiment shows that popular belief elicitation methods like BSR and BDM fail to outperform simple, unincentivized introspection.

Probably not news to people thinking about this, but it occurred to me there is a risk that as we become more enamored with how much faster we can do all kinds of stuff with AI, we don't notice we're losing some of the joy and satisfaction related to the process of doing some of that stuff.

ON AMERICAN NUMERACY AND LITERACY IN THE WAR AGAINST GRENADA

Counting in american
you start with 600 cubans,
the next figure in that numeracy
is 1100 cubans,
trouble ascending, move to 200 cubans,
Pi equals zero grenadians
which accounts for the resistance in the hills;
when deploying troops
or actually in most cases, thugs,
send 15,000
if 100 die it's friendly fire
and anyway that's less than if you
only send 500 (percentage wise you know)
when counting casualties in a war
the first is always american,
(for instance the first casualty in El Salvador
as reported in Newsweek was an american
army officer)
the 40,000 salvadoreans are just playing dead
and the grenadians lying face upward in the sun
at Beausejour are only catching flies.

The term "mass grave" does not apply
to those dug by marines or right wing death squads in Central America,
A 'pre-emptive strike' or a 'rescue mission'
is not a war,
except to the illiterate and the oppressed
who have no words for death,
therefore no real need for life.
