HOUSTON, October 14, 2026--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Houston based Riverway Group, LLC, and Offshore Data Center, LLC, today announced a collaboration to design and build offshore platforms that turn stranded and undervalued natural gas into power for data centers located right at the source. The approach gives oil and gas producers a new way to monetize gas resources that are uneconomic to develop under conventional models.

The collaboration combines Offshore Data Center's partner relationships, notably HORTON DO BRASIL TECNOLOGIA OFFSHORE LTDA's patented and proprietary semi-submersible hull designs with Riverway's automated welding and advanced fabrication methods. The result is a hull up to 50% lighter than traditional designs, with improved stability — making U.S. Gulf Coast construction cost-competitive with shipyards in South Korea, China and Singapore.

I still think (call me naive) that we can vote our way to a sustainable and equitable world. I also believe that if people were less precious about criticising The Greens they'd fix their climate policy. The scientific community needs to get braver too and call out bad climate policy takes.

You can put out all the glossy brochures you like but if you turn around and vote for forest carbon offsetting and then spruik LNG exports as a public cash cow you've lost the plot on climate policy and you're part of the problem from a Chin Strap 🐧 perspective.

Also from a practical perspective The Greens' current climate policy is pretty fucking close to the LNP's (as is Labor's). Eg they both want LNG exports to continue indefinitely as long as the public gets a decent cash return.

An effect which I haven't seen mentioned is that this type of military execution will bleed into battlefield ethics. When a soldier has a captured enemy kneeling before them they will feel less restrained about executing them, as per Australia's SAS units in Afghanistan.

The key point you, and almost everyone else, is missing here is that a public cash return still incentivises fossil carbon mining. Govts become addicted to the revenue stream and join the corporations in promoting the industry's social licence. And what then gets obscured is the external (to market)
