9. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door I know this game well enough that I've toyed with the idea of running Glitchless for some time now; I've rawdogged a speedwalk of that category once and it went better than I expected. Currently the length of that run is what's keeping me away from it.

8. Donkey Kong Country 3 (GBA) This one has been on my Soon™ list for so long at this point that it's a running joke in my community. It's a vastly different run than its SNES counterpart, and learning it would complete the GBA trilogy. Probably the most likely new speedrun for me to pick up.

7. Sonic Heroes Jank game, but I like it a lot. Speedrunning it was a fleeting thought; never really investigated how mechanics or glitches worked, or how to efficiently practice it. I think I might've been a little intimidated by it as a whole, and also the third dimension.

6. Super Mario Bros. 3 This is my mom's favorite game, and I most likely would've picked it up years ago if I had access to an NES or went ahead and bought one; the All-Stars version, while great for several reasons, never really gave me the motivation to speedrun it.

5. Super Mario World Specifically 96 Exit and No Cape No Star World, as I've always found those 2 categories to be the most compelling for different reasons. Ultimately stuck with the DKC series for its depth, but I've always been on board for a good SMW romhack, be it Kaizo or otherwise.

4. Mega Man X6 That game sucks casually (minus the OST), but I've been on record saying it's a really good speedrun; easy to pick up, good length, great movement and dope glitches that also happen to be simple and straightforward in execution. Learned the whole run, never went for any kind of PB.

3. Super Metroid This was a 12 hour challenge I committed to a number of years ago. Despite being overwhelmed rather quickly, I pushed through and finished learning the run only to die on Phantoon on my first (and only) official attempt. Nowadays I like revisiting it as a speedwalk or a randomizer.

2. Final Fantasy VI I really enjoyed this game casually and this would've been my first crack at speedrunning a JRPG. Unfortunately I found the learning process (and the speedrun overall) slow and tedious, and I couldn't wrap my head around the mechanics. Dropped learning right after Ultros 1.

1. Metroid Prime Obvious first pick. The greatest game ever made and my personal favorite. I was in the process of learning it around 2016 - 2017 but got discouraged due to the lack of good means to practice tricks and movement. I have zero regrets keeping it purely as a casual game.
