It’s AANHPI Heritage Month – But What Does That Mean?
Let’s break it down and honor each community.

Asian American
Who They Are:
Americans with roots in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent.
Did You Know?
Asian Americans make up over 20 million people in the U.S.

The term includes over 50 ethnic groups and 100+ languages.

Contributions in civil rights (Yuri Kochiyama) and tech (Steve Chen, co-founder of YouTube).

Why It Matters:
Asian Americans are often grouped together, but each culture has a unique and diverse history. It’s essential to recognize the full spectrum of Asian American heritage.

Foster Care Isn’t failing the system is

Many youth in care face instability: on average, a child changes homes 7+ times.

LGBTQ+ youth, BIPOC youth, and disabled youth are overrepresented in foster care and face higher rates of abuse, neglect, and aging out without support.

Foster care is supposed to be temporary, but over 20,000 youth "age out" each year with no permanent family.

foster youth need more than placement.
they need pjrotection, policy, & people who show up

Every child deserves a chance. Here’s how you can help.

Educate yourself on the lived experiences of foster youth.

Support orgs that uplift foster youth voices.

Become a mentor, advocate, or respite caregiver if you’re able.
Donate supplies like hygiene kits, backpacks, and school supplies.

Vote for policies that prioritize child welfare reform and mental health care access.

Awareness is the first step. Action is the next.
