Probably the worst thing about the advent of the smartphone is that it killed Nokiawave as a genre, which in turn hastened the demise of Gitanes Maïs.

You can just do things: for instance, you can visualise the impact of July wildfires in Europe and North America on air quality using calibrated sensor data available on ATProto.
Maps of Europe and North Anerica showing each sensor station's peak modified PM2.5 z-score over the date window. It shows where the air quality was unusual for that location.Rows are the two event regions, each paired with a control region on the same continent: Iberia & southern France against the rest of Europe, the Great Lakes & Upper Midwest against the rest of North America. Left column (log scale, µg/m³) shows the 95th percentile of daily station means. Right column (linear, %) shows the share of stations in the region above that guideline on the day.Iberia and Southern France: PM2.5 distribution and anomaly count

This evening’s mystery is how my daughter’s little yellow dress made its way from VEB Kinderoberbekleidung in Freital (www.archiv.sachsen.de/archiv/bestand…) to the Oxfam on Thomas St, in Dublin. It must have been manufactured before 1990, since the VEB became a GmbH in 1990.

A quote that reads: “On Friday, I took part in a GB News debate with Andy Twelves and he asked me to name the leading demographers who reviewed my projections regarding Britain's future population. I could not tell him this because peer review is by its nature anonymous. Twelves would have known this had he ever written a book or conducted a major academic study. He has done neither. My anonymous reviewers know who they are and I thank them.” A list of demographers. They also play together on a Baseball team. The most well-known among them is undoubtedly Sleve McDichael.
