Is anyone else on @mastodon.online seeing their #SpamFilters as a "loud" warning even when they are set to silently hide the posts? Is this a bug or a new feature that I missed somehow? #mastodon
Screenshot of mastodon.online in a mobile browser showing a post that matches one of my filters, in the timeline with a "matches filter..." notice, even though the filter is set to remove the post and nit show it.

How the mighty have fallen. Not one, but two grammar mistakes on #TheGuardian's International homepage at the moment. What a sad thing to see. www.theguardian.com/international
Screenshot of The Guardian's International homepage showing to top news stories. One says "Trump set to press Zelenskyy at UN to agree energy ceasefire with Russia" (missing the word "to") and the other says "NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox News, the fourth other networks that..." (should have said "the four other networks")

I've had worse mornings, thank you for asking. 😊
Landscape photo of lake Como in Italy. My legs are resting in a recliner facing (an empty) fire pit table beyond which a wide stretch of the lake is visible with hotels at the bottom of the mountains on the distant other edge l. It is beautiful and serene. I am on vacation.

Well done #Europcar. This is the first time I've ever had a company honestly refer to the fact that they are using a #tracking pixel in their emails to me. #privacy learn.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstu…
Screenshot of the contents of the email I received from Europcar. There's a yellow "Make a Choice" button at the bottom for me to click. The text above the button reads (and this is a bit long):

"Information regarding your Europcar emails

Since you recently joined Europcar, we want to make sure we only send you content that is relevant to you.

To do this, we would like your permission to use tracking pixels in our emails.

What is a pixel?
To ensure our newsletters are useful to you, we use tracking indicators (measurement of email opens and clicks) on the messages we send you.

These indicators allow us to understand how you interact with our emails so we can personalize our communications, improve our content, and adjust our sending frequency.

What can you do?
Your privacy is important to us, and you are in control of your preferences.

To receive communications tailored to your interests, you can consent to the use of tracking pixels in our emails by clicking on the link below.

If you change your mind later, you can withdraw your consent at any time using the link available at the bottom of every email we send.

Thank you for your trust."

Any #car fans up for a riddle? Can't figure out why my car complains about the front wheel with 34 PSI having low pressure and ignores the other front wheel with 33 PSI.
Photo of an alert on my car's dashboard display. It shows a schematic of my car seen from above. One front tire is shown as having 34 PSI and is highlighted in orange. The other front tire is shown with 33 PSI and is not highlighted.

Oh wow, I've found a Templar Tomato when making salad. Dan Brown has got to see this.
Picture of half a tomato on a cutting board. The tomato is roughly square shaped and so it's 4 inner chambers form the shape of a Templar cross a.k.a. cross pattée with arms that are narrow at the centre and often flared in a curve or straight line shape to be broader at the perimeter.

#Mozilla's unwise decision to kill its #pocket #bookmarking service has had a good effect on me. I switched to #wallbag (foss: wallabag.org) and am now paying a small monthly fee to host my bookmarks at wallabag.it, without a big corp spying on me. Lemons to lemonade imho.

Unfortunately, I accidentally broke one of the 4 plastic pins that fix the GPU fan to the GPU on the graphics card. Check out the rust on the spring - neat, eh? If anyone knows the search terms to find a replacement I'd be much obliged :).
Photo of a small, black plastic pin measure about 15mm in length. The pin has a rusty spring coiled around it. 4 of these are used to secure the GPU fan to the GPU on my AMD Radeon 5450 graphics adapter. The pin is broken into two parts and so cannot be re-used for its original purpose.

The good news are that these aren't nearly as addictive as the honey & mustard variety. The bad news are that they're still fucking addictive. It was very hard to stop munching them long enough to take the pic. Pretty sure these are artificially flavored with cocaine. Please send help.

Yes! Finally it's time to cancel that great evil - politeness. But why stop there? Let's target kindness, empathy and just being good to each other. Am I missing any other awful social constructs forced upon us by the imperial hetero-hegemonical industrial […] [Original post on mastodon.online]
Screen shot of toot from @kristiedegaris@mastodon.scot that reads: "New piece of writing on how British politeness and 'manners' are the last surviving pillars of the Empire.

'Not all legacies of the British Empire are loud. Some are quiet, habitual, and dressed in good intentions. In the UK, tone still trumps truth, and politeness remains more culturally sacred than justice.'"
