Raffo @uppuiu.com · 08/09/2026I apologize I may have shared my opinion on this same topic on the other social network 😅 010

Raffo @uppuiu.com · 15/08/2026Being able to shut up, take the money and use it to fund again those programs, now that would be a good move. 010
Raffo @uppuiu.com · 15/08/2026I will likely never make a lot of money, but knowing myself I know that I would need to bring to the table the USAID topic and things like www.thelancet.com/article/S014... otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep. And then I'm sure the deal would not happen. 110

Raffo @uppuiu.com · 15/07/2026I very much agree with this writeup and it's largely the same conclusion I arrived to. I think the problems aren't new and were already clear at any meaningful scale. AI might make things worse but it's more how we get funding these days than the real problem. Anyway, good luck, this is cool stuff! 100

Raffo @uppuiu.com · 25/06/2026I'd be curious to learn how your database looks like in ConfigHub and how you are mapping resources to the database., if you are willing to share. 000
Raffo @uppuiu.com · 25/06/2026I agree 100%. What the industry has been doing is abusing git for something that doesn't fit git. I understand the appeal and the simplicity, but it's really hard to build operations on top of git and at scale (think many repos in a big company). 110

Raffo @uppuiu.com · 02/12/2025I agree. Helm and similar are not real abstractions, a CRD implementing a higher level API is, but only if it doesn't require users to look into how the generated resources were generated. 000
Raffo @uppuiu.com · 16/11/2025I’ve been coding with my voice for weeks now because I hurt my right hand. Turns out I hate writing to coding agents but I’m absolutely fine talking to them. I can’t explain why, other than we humans are complex and experience and enjoy things differently. 020
Raffo @uppuiu.com · 20/09/2025Yeah but the job market is fragmented, the countries are all divided, the compensations wildly different. Raffo @uppuiu.com · 10/09/2025Helm charts are a bad idea precisely for that reason.. And the brittle templating. 000

Raffo @uppuiu.com · 11/08/2025Not zero, but limited and not generic. There a few bespoke things that you can customize which will be transformed at deploy time, but it's a non arbitrary set of things, to avoid issues with templating. I have a Masterplan in mind to make everything even better but I don't get to execute it 😅 000
Raffo @uppuiu.com · 10/08/2025Great post, I agree with everything you said. At GitHub, we have raw Kubernetes YAML as the "contract", users can only use helm to commit the output to their repos. We have a set of default linters that are a combination of OPA and custom ruby code, which validates correctness and common issues. 111

Raffo @uppuiu.com · 22/02/2025If you ever get the chance again, I'd recommend to visit a concentration camp. It touches something inside that you can't forget and makes the visitors understand why this should never happen again. We can't be this close to what fascism and nazism were and they must be fought before it is too late. 1110

Raffo @uppuiu.com · 18/12/2024They do allow to extend kubernetes a lot and I think this has been a key part of its adoption strategy in lots of companies. As such, I think they still have great value. 000
Raffo @uppuiu.com · 18/12/2024Those are valid points. Webhooks are clearly a super powerful extension point and as such they bring a lot of risks. I think they have been abused by the community and that it's true that most validations can be less custom and most transformations should be somewhere else. 200
Raffo @uppuiu.com · 03/12/2024I enjoyed it. Once it clicks, it's good. But if most of the people are going to have an hard time, you have to be pragmatic and move to something else, it's the only thing that makes sense. 010
Raffo @uppuiu.com · 03/12/2024I built linting with rego at github. As soon as the project was passed to another team, they switched everything to ruby, building generators to write rules to verify properties in resources. I can't say they were wrong, it does the same, but more team members can wrap their head around the language 110
