From a couple of nights ago, through the security mesh at Midland station - CBH120 heads CBH102 and CBH118 (I think, also I think failed) westbound. Had to run to catch it, barely had time to comp for the mesh's effect on colour.

Keeping in mind this is just the mockup - the CBH silo is now in-place. It's such a formidable building that is almost seemingly out of scale with the rest of the town. When I get around to the PROPER build I'm probably end up making a good chunk of it out of foam-core, and then detail with styrene

Small update on yesterday's post - trying the 45 degree slope in the mockup and.. it feels better than it did flat. These are internal alignment/reinforcements so it doesn't sag (the final one will be made of more resilient stuff). Peak is 17 scale meters, for the record.

3 days on-and-off masking, 2 days at it with really dilute Tamiya, factoring for touchups (and the last of the masking getting pulled) - that's the sleepers weathered, and while they look odd without the ballast and ground down, I'm happy with how it turned out and the look they give.

I've said it before, but the layout is a long-haul project, and the means lots of small bits to do whenever. Yesterday: at long last finishing the footpathh up the side of the supermarket. A piece of cereal box scored, sealed, airbrushed for the concrete, texture pasted a patch and airbrushed again.

You know, even without spilling most of my microsol and microset (which I did), doing this was some real sweating bullets material. Those things were tiiiny and so very easy to lose, scratch up, stick to fingers in unretrievable ways. But it's done.

It's amusing that an example of the WAGR's second Mainline NG diesel loco classes is still running, still in good nick: TECHNICALLY is an preservation unit (owned and leased from RHWA). Still earning meal tickets when classes that replaced it (and some that even replaced THEM) were scrapped.

AB1535 at Worsley East on the Brunswick Junction-Collie line with 5RT2 - an empty rail train - after completing it's drops down the line earlier this morning.

ID: a yellow, high-hood, EMD-style, diesel locomotive standing seemingly idle on a curve in the line in jarrah bushland. Behind it is a rake of staked flat cars. It's early morning - there's a light fog hanging around the trees in the background and partly cloudy skies.

Painting up the Louvre vans, or at least the main body walls. You'll have to trust that the roofs are actually masked because the tape's pretty close to the actual body tone. With the sides done, it'll be roof next, which because I want the paint to be set before remasking, will be tomorrow.

As it turns out, the actual time to prime with the airbrush the FD vans was like 15 minutes once it started, but I need to leave them for like a day to cure now, which is less instantly gratifying but okay. Is a fun abstract public art installation having them in the PCB holder stand though.
