Also, small update. I'm working on porting the mockup UI in-game and it's surprisingly difficult. Thought I'd do something fun instead :)

She's also affected by the cursor if you click on her. I find it kinda cute. Need to add more effects like this later on.

Yeah, both those GIFs are in-game recordings. It's from a prototype I made. I really love the idea behind it, but expanding its gameplay is really hard. Thus the new idea. Maybe I'll get back to this one day :)

I'm thinking of tying the player's success as a shop owner to the moral choices involved in helping the flower grow. Basically, the worse things you do, the more success you get. Plus, I'd like the UI to feel interactive, so there's that.

Hey #screenshotsaturday I'm making a game. An interactive horror story inspired by The Little Shop of Horrors. Finished the mockup today, going to be a busy few months! Excited to share more as it comes. #gamedev #indiegame #pixelart
Text adventure style horror game with multiple interactive panels: showcasing thing like the current scene, story text, protagonist profile, a market chart and briefcase for trinkets.

I made a short Narrative game about self-care for the #pico1k jam in exactly 1024 bytes. You can click/tap the petals to pluck them and progress the story. Hope you enjoy <3 #gamedev #pico8
Main menu for a game. There's a huge white title saying "LOVE ME NOT", below in red there's a prompt to "click to pluck". Made by: Aubrey DominikFlower bundle with 3 different petal colors (all shades of pink). Above there's a title for the game "LOVE ME NOT".Yellow text, black background saying "-you are needed-".Lone red heart in the center of screen with text below saying "* What's this?". Above there's a title for the game "LOVE ME NOT".

I'm trying to get back into drawing for fun again, need to de-rust. Made this sketch using a reference to focus on contours. Really proud of how it turned out :) #art #pen
A ~30 minute sketch made with a black-inked ballpoint pen. The focus of the drawing was to learn about drawing contours, so it depicts a zoomed in view of a woman wearing a chunky knit sweater and some denim pants.

I'm working on my point & click idea, and game design is just soo much harder than everything else I do. I feel like I have theoretical skills, applying them in practice is a different beast entirely. I'll try and get something decent I'm willing to share soon. Just have to stop scrapping things :/

Explain ur @ When I was younger I played a lot of pures in Old School Runescape (pvp builds in an mmo), but I thought "Holy" was too pretentious thus the opposite. Brie's just my name :3

It's more of an incremental type game, with a strong focus on the horror story/narrative aspects. So a type of "unfolding game" if you've heard of that. Also, thanks for the kind words <3

So I found a lovely open-source Godot tool for this (link below) and spent my morning learning the engine to fix a couple of bugs and add some features I needed. I see why people use it, there's so much you can do, and relatively easily. But it's very overwhelming at first :/

I really want to add some sprite-stacking to my game, but I have no tools to support that kind of workflow in-engine. Implementing it seems easy enough, but I realized that making art for it was going to be a headache.

Spent an hour adding in the main cursor interaction I had in mind, turns out I don't like it. I'll spend the rest of the day/weekend thinking about some design pivots :P

Spent the day building a debug menu and implementing some basic fly movement. The renderer keeping up with everything is really satisfying, honestly way more performance than I actually need :) #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame

Here's the schizo notes I took. I basically split the circle into nine cells, then for each segment drew a triangle out to the nearest corner or edge anchor point.
Debug view of the 3x3 grid cell approach, each line segment fans out to its nearest corner or edge anchor point.

While working on some basic creatures I realized they can be seen outside the "circle", which makes no sense. I got sidetracked and spent the rest of the day on this instead (my engine doesn't support stencil buffers lol). I'll likely scrap it and try to implement the rest properly tomorrow. #wip

Playing around with some 3D Simplex noise today (using 2 dims for the border and 1 for time). Love how the breathing effect turned out! #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame

Hey! It's been a hot minute. Last year just flew by. Hope everyone's doing well despite everything <3 I burnt out hard, but I did get lots done as things felt better. I rewrote my engine from the ground up (now C++), made some bad prototypes, and more importantly, decided on a game I want to make.
