Yunho wakes from the nightmare with the sour aftertaste of curse-wrongness caught clinging, still, to the back of her mouth. They forgot to pull the curtains shut the night before. The sky is steel dark with the approaching dawn and wind shakes the treeline across the hill; Yunho can hear the cries of gulls that ride the gusts over the coastline, white sickle-slashes through the clouds that shriek and howl through the nothing-hour before sunrise.

Hongjoong doesn't stir when Yunho crawls out of bed and hunches over the open suitcase to dig out her big cardigan. Sleeps through the shuffle of Yunho's slides on the tile, too, and the creak the cabin door makes when she slips out into the grey.

The cabin is suffocating. Hongjoong's weight against her back is suffocating. Yunho's heart, too, the snag of it as it holds their hesitant, lead-line tether.
