Just about now, 20 years ago, I ended my longest ever shift as a government press officer, working in the UK crisis communication centre to feed a fact-hungry global media with the latest awful updates on the 7/7 bombings. It was multiple-agency, cross-governmental true team work. And very sad.

My brother had just died in a car crash, his last message to me saying buy-up tinned goods (he was a banker). I was over in the UK for his funeral when Montenegro shut its borders. They repatriated me and put me in solitary quarantine for 2 weeks, away from my husband and young kids #fiveyearson
