On July 3rd 1824, Appleton the tubmaker tried to get a cheap painting off of John Constable for a room he was doing up.

A bit of Constable's diary that says "Mr. Appleton, the tub-maker, of Tottenham Court Road, called to know if I had a damaged picture which I could let him have cheap, as he is fitting up a room up one pair of stairs."
