Happy early WIP day! Have some Fields of Mistria ficcie where March is yelling at Parvin (tbf, Parvin does kinda sorta definitely deserve to be yelled at here).

No one would ever, in a million years, accuse March of being patient.

“One of you is full of shit and I’m pretty sure it’s the damn merchant but don’t think I don’t know you’re not not full of shit!” he snapped.

Parvin stared at him blankly—but in that stupid, amiable way that made them look like a dog that’s just been tricked by their owner only pretending to throw a stick.

Then their lips moved as they tried to work out what he meant.

Not...not full of shit...?

They stood at their workbench just outside the cottage—without a shirt on!—and appeared to be testing several seed starters. The table was covered in pots, half of which were a bit over half-filled with soil. A few sprouts could be seen poking above the rims.

“Sorry, you seem to be fourteen steps ahead of me right now. What are you angry about?”

“I’m not angry!”

They pursed their lips. “Ah, my mistake. The colorful language, aggressive tone, and volume led me to the wrong conclusion. Is this an invitation to afternoon tea?”

“Shut up!”

Parvin closed their mouth and smiled at him. Politely.

I think my favorite detail here is that March's arms are around Parvin's waist but the hands are drawn in such a way that it looks like he's still trying to decide whether to hug them back or not (he will).

At some point yesterday I was worried that the chapter I wrote was TOO much. Like. Too self indulgent. And then I came to my senses and realized that, in this case, I did not need to go on a diet to appease the appetites of potential readers.

I am not posting the Fields of Mistria fic to Ao3 right now because it's not done and I don't want to jinx it. Just know that today I have written 3165 words (so far). The fic itself broke 20k earlier. Also I had to add another chapter before the bear (NOT HAYDEN!) chapter. :<

Fic I Did Not Expect To Write: Going surprisingly well. The chapter after next has a bear in it (not Hayden) (Hayden is in the chapter but he's not the bear) (it's an actual bear with fur--)(IT'S NOT HAYDEN I SWEAR).

A layout of notes describing each chapter of the current Fields of Mistria fic I've got going. This is what's written so far. First drafts, all.

1: The Dent in the Armor
"Parvin shows up and makes friends and drives March up a wall. A piece of dented armor is involved but not in a sexy way."
2: The Farmstead
"In which March has an existential crisis over a bare chest and argues (argues is crossed out and replaced with:) loses an argument with a cat."
3: The Joys of Blacksmithing
"March gets to teach Parvin some blacksmithing but first he has to have Vera teach him how to braid hair. Only you can prevent forest fires...er...premature baldness?"
4: The Traveler
"March and Balor get told a fun, light-hearted story about the time Parvin lost their mind and killed a bunch of people.
(They were protecting a town from a mob it’s fine it’s fine they don’t carry around any residual trauma from the event at all.)"
5: The Trembling Shelf
"Because I need to write something that showcases that March CAN make friends! Also apparently we’re establishing the beta couple (cute...), March gives Parvin a book, and makes plans for Tuesday.
(The following is crossed out:) March also did something very nice for Parvin in the background but shhhh no he didn’t no one can ever know."
6: The Shield of the Realm
"It’s Tuesday and we’re doing March’s 6-heart event! Now with:
- Almost kissing (omg lips touch omg scandal someone get Elsie on the line STAT)
- Existential crises over almost kissing
- Shockingly, March is not the one having said crisis this time. Not that he’s well or handing it maturely but he didn’t run tf away as soon as everyone’s back was turned."

What I'm writing isn't so much "Enemies to Lovers" as it is "Guy who really wants to be Enemies vs the Cat who knows the Guy loves them and is politely waiting for him to figure it out (while also being afraid of him figuring it out)." It's fun. :D

This is all depending on whether *Azem* made Ethos. They did not make the summoning crystal-that was Emet. Also I think the aetheryte in the tempest has a similar shape, but it's been a minute and I could be wrong.
