Love all of that. I definitely need to do that. My lady of the lake inspired character was for DnD that went by Nimue, though she had a lot of Hela inspo involved. The DM revealed her real name was Megan and she was meant to marry a guy named Gwynn before she 'died' and was reborn.

This was my struggle when I did reviews of films and comics. I never expected them to infouence people, but was worried if they did they'd make people avoid stuff rather than try stuff. Tried to make sure it was know that things were strictly my opinion, and stay more positive where possible.

Actually adapted from the first full original character main character I created for Marvel fan-fiction almost 20 years ago. Once I realised she was a great way to examine a Barbarian's Rage feature as a result of complex trauma she was the only choice.

Some art I did last night/today of my planned character for the next big DnD campaign I play in, the Violet Warrior. A vigilante who I described to the other players as 'lotta trauma, not a lot of good coping mechanisms'.

I am the kind of person who will be writing a message/text/comment/whatever and go into an aside so use brackets, only to then discover that aside has an aside so go back and change first bracket to a comma so I can use brackets for second aside.

This is obviously not a fully comprehensive look at, what I understand of myself to be, rather nuanced views. Even on my final point I find myself at odds with myself. I do often wish I had a simpler, more aimed morality. Would make things easier. But it wouldn't be me, nor what Animorphs taught me.

On the whole I believe in having strong convictions, particularly in regard to the life and agency of people. Especially the last point, to me the most abhorrent action is a removal or outright ignoring of a person's consent.

Realised I shared this with zero context (and debated leaving it that way). My DnD group just started a new mini-campaign using the Anime rule books where we play isekai'd versions of ourselves. I became a Pet Monster Trainer whose Pet Monster is Toasta (another player created the human leg canon).

Trying to work out the outfits characters will wear to prom for my comic WIP has really hammered in two things- 1- How uninteresting 'masculine' outfits tend to be. 2- How internalised the idea that 'feminine' outfits have to all be different from each other is.

one of Bendis’ admiral traits as an up-and-comer: he was no kind of virtuoso and yet he figured out how to make do with the limited art skills he had to get it done, and wrote to his limitations. people still read Jinx, and Torso. he then built a writing style around his artistic limitations, and 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah, I really feel it when I see people only recommend the most lauded titles to people. Like, Maus is great but it is definitely not for everybody. People just want what they can connect with for the most part.

If I ever suggest a fake I always have to caveat with 'I love this for X reasons, but it may not be for you so if it isn't let me know why and I'll recommend something else'. But usually that's more when being asked about favourites more than just a blanket 'recommend anything I may like'.

If someone asks me to recommend a comic for a non-comics reader, I never knee-jerk push my own favorites. I ask what they enjoy in other media. Talk to them. Maybe your tastes align, great. If they don't, don't center yourself in the equation, center their interests. There's a comic for everyone.

I've been on ADHD medication for a few weeks now, on a long acting one. I've noticed increases in motivation and focus, which has been great, but the thing I just noticed might be my favourite. I'm back in a place I can fully enjoy and also analyse the media I'm consuming at the same time.
